This subforum needs some stimulation. I hope I'm not being optimistic in assuming many of you guys have read Harry Potter, and would like to discuss it to some length. This will contain spoilers for the whole series.
Anyway. Harry, Snape, and Dumbledore are thee of the most interesting and complex characters in the Harry Potter universe.
Snape is easily the one with the most to talk about, I think. People are still split in their opinions about him. Some people think he's a hero, while others think the only thing keeping him from going back to Voldemort is the memory of Lily.
I prefer to think that Lily's death acted as more of a catalyst for him. It was a defining moment, but not the only reason he does what he does. In my opinion he has actually reformed.
Though he loves Lily long after he death, he also seems to hate the only thing left her- her son, Harry. Perhaps because Harry is so like his dad, in so many ways. Though harry does not bully people, there is some arrogance about him, and he does show a flagrant disregard for the rules. Part of the reason Snape gets under his skin is because so many of the things he says are correct.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on Snape? Did he truly reform? And why does he hate Harry so? I'll get to Dumbledore later, I don't want this post to be too long.
