Sharing a Universe with Bartimaeus?

Lockwood & Co.

Has Jonathan Stroud ever said definitively whether Lockwood & Co and the Bartimaeus series are set in the same universe? I think it would very intriguing were it true.

Maybe. But I love both books so much, for different reasons, and it just wouldn't be the same if they were combined.

I think they're quite obviously not. They both take place at roughly the same time (the modern day) but the worlds are completely different, and there's no mention in either of anything related to the other universe. Plus the histories are wildly different; djinn have been summoned for millennia in the Bartimaeus universe and have driven the rise and fall of empires for the entire time; Lockwood's universe only appears to have diverged significantly from ours with the rise of the Problem in the 1950s.

It would be interesting to have a crossover, though. Bart would get along with skully, but not with George, methinks.

Skull is practically inspired by Bartimaeus, its amazing how Barti stayed with Jonathan Stroud. Spirit trapped and mistreated, check. Sarcastic, smartass plus human loathing comments, check. Trust issues between dangerous trapped spirit and girl, check. Even the description of him as a human is Ptolemy, young, scrawny, big dark eyes.
