In page 230 of the Amulet of Samarkand, Underwood threatens Nat with this djinni type. What does it do? Does it get secrets from you or does it revel things you don't want reveled? Things that make you
So, any takers?

Could have been bluffing, but doubt it.
No idea.

Which chapter is it?
"Je suis Bartim?us!
Je suis Sakhr al-Djinn, N'gorso le tout-puissant, le Serpent ? Plumes d'argent! Je ne me reconnais point de ma?tre. Aussi je te somme ? ton tour, petit.
Qui es-tu pour m'invoquer?"

Why? Do you have a different copy?
Sorry then, just find where Barty is in the Tower, then keep reading to Underwood's discovery of Nat's stuff.

Yep, I have the french version. I found this passage (page 280).
The word I have is "Outrageur". I think it is a demon who says very rude words, who can hurt someone just with words.

At least I guess if we follow the meaning of the word! And Underwood is not that powerful, and this kind of demon must be a minor one, available for Underwood when you read he would never dare to summon a djinn like Barti!! :D

Naw, its a djinni, so it has to be more powerful. But yeah not as much as Barty.
probably the lowest of the low, if it came from Underwood...

That's what I thought but Nero said it is a djinni. How do you know it is a djinn Nero?

You dare say Simpkin was near djinni level! An insult to Bartimaeus! :P
I think the demon (whatever class it is) tortures a person so terribly that the person reveals all secrets. Just the Underwood type. Though the would be a minor one it would be much stronger than a human.

Perhaps this will be answered in the Bartimaeus "Bible"

The Reviler?
revile- v. to assail with contemptuous or opprobrious language; address or speak of abusively.
So it must use some sort of verbal torture. Kind of like Tchue in that respect.
It sounds fairly powerful. I doubt Underwood could summon it, but considering he threatened Nathaniel with Petrifaction (which requires a powerful afrit), something he'd never be able to pull off, he doesn't mind making threats that he can't carry out.

And guess what, googling the term... leads back to this page! Talk about an infinite circle.
