Close. Basically it's a symbol of good luck in many religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. It was originally a square shape, the Nazi party turned it onto its point for more of a diamond shape. Of course now it's seen more as a symbol of hatred. Hitler ruined Charlie Chaplin moustaches for everyone too.

I understand its pre-Nazi significance, I was just pointing out the outrage of the buyer and the store's response.
