Refrences to the devil

There are a few refrences to the devil throught the books. I am starting to think that the demons power come off the devil seen as kavka, in the golems eye, says "What the devil?" and barti replies "Depends on how you look at it." Also jakob hynerk says that hes been told that the magicians sell there souls and in return they get to controll the demons. I would just like your opinion on this please.

"What the devil?" is just an expression. Barti's response is about what's going on; nothing to do with the way a somewhat shocked Kavka phrased the question.
As for the selling their souls thing, it's just the commoners not being allowed to know anything about how it actually works, which leaves them to make up (suitably insulting to their oppressors) guesses.

If the Devil were involved, The Other Place would simply be called, "Hell."

Perhaps the devil could have created the Other Place. The other place is a world of choas; so is the devil. And the spirits have odd forms, so that could also be the devil's work. Hmmm...I wonder if holy water works on djinn...

Bleh, I still doubt it.

What Apollo said. The Other Place is just orderless energy; spirits created from it are a reflection on the magicians who create them, not the OP.

The devil would imply hell, possibly relating to the other place. Possibly an extremely strong spirit is often related to as the Devil. :cthulhu:

when barty said that i think he meant Kavka said it as: what? the devil? and his answer means: well from my point of view,no, but from human's point of view, yes. for example: humans call the djinn "demons, " I dont think they are because barty gets really hurt at that...also, hes a pretty good person (djinn) deep down. hes not evil...

"What the devil?" is a fairly common, albeit somewhat old-fashioned, expression of surprise or astonishment. It's nothing to do with the spirits being called demons.

Why are so many of you actually believing The "Devil" exists? Why, if he does exist in the Barti world, would he make the OP?
