When it comes around, will you not be taking a chance and be lining up for it, or will you wait for any severe side effects not yet seen?

No, I probably won't be getting it. It's only the bloody flu. My family have had it at home; one was pretty ill for a week and the other two were just a bit ill. A few other people I know have had it with a similar range of symptoms. Not worth it.
Not that I think there will be side effects or anything - the flu vaccine is an established concept.

No, I'm not scared of swine flu

I'm not getting it, namely because I'm not in a priority group and thus don't want to deprive people who may die if they don't get it.

I've also had allergic reactions with vaccines in the past. I work at Loblaws, and I'm exposed to hundreds tens of sick people daily, so if I don't have it now, after many of my friends have had it, I doubt I will get it.

Accidentally clicked 'Yes.'

I'm not getting it because sterilized needles horrify me. And H1N1 isn't a big deal.

Would you prefer unsterilised needles?

=p.

No, I won't be getting it too until the virus mutates into something really dangerous & they make a vaccine for that.

Again no, because there are people who need it a heck of a lot more than I do (related: is anyone else pissed off about the hockey players who got the vaccine?), I think people are overreacting just a tad, and I am annoyed that my city has only one clinic for the regular flu shot. Which kills more people. Probably more now that no one is going to bother to get a shot for it.

I might have to if my parents drag me all the way out to our family doctor though, and force me to get it. But I'll only do it if I can get a regular flu shot too (which I haven't had for 5 years... it's more of a principle thing).

Calgary Flames: Yes because Vancouver Calgary are eternal rivals. But either way hockey players should not be given special treatment.

I do always get the season flu shot though. But that was only after a terrible night that led me to the ER.

Technically the Spanish Flu was only "the bloody flu".

Indeed, 1 in 18 000 that took the shot in Canada has had notable reactions.

I will not get near a needle unless we find a Solanum vaccine. Besides, I never get the flu. Ever.

Em. I don't think that's possible...
True. Doesn't the Solanum virus devour your brain? (I'm not sure, it's been awhile) I don't think you can get that back...

Hell no if I have in a say in it, though I'll most likely get it.

Why would you get a vaccine for a virus that mutates completely? You won't be immune at all to the next mutation, to there's no point >.<

Who knows if it would mutate so completely that all its earlier properties are lost? Some scientists said its better to get swine flu now because if it mutates later (and becomes more dangerous), you might have immunity against it & not probably get it. So that means some of the antigenic properties would remain the same.
I have never had a flu vaccine. And I don't know anyone over here who has taken. Don't even know if it is in the market.

Probably because we've got a colder climate here. Which is why everyone thinks they've got the swine flu; everyone gets colds and things this time of year.

Getting cold doesn't give you a cold, you know.

No, it gives you pneumonia.

Well, maybe not colds, but people do get sick a lot more around this time.

People do get colds a lot more in winter than summer, but it's not directly due to the temperature - it's more to do with more people being inside and around other people, I believe. (Getting cold does actually exacerbate the symptoms of an existing illness, too, but it won't give you one.)

I know. There's also speculation that lack of vitamin D is part of it too... At least that's what my Bio teacher said (the first day of class this year all we talked about was flus and colds and stuff).

But the leaves and everything play heck with a lot of peoples sinuses and breathing (does with mine) and it's flu season more or less. And then everyone's all like "OMG WE'RE ALL GOING TO GET SWINE FLU AND DIE!!!!," every little thing means you're staying at home.

On another note, if any of you are told you have the swine flu, I suggest coughing on the person who said it. That's always fun. :D
