Actually there are two ways how to explain the 4th dimense. The physical-time AND the matematical which a few people know it´s other than the physical. The matematical dimension is not defined;it simply IS. If a 4-dimensional ball was going through our world, we would see a point, which would be bigger and bigger and the it would be smaller and smaller until it will disapeer. So, you can understand the matematical dimension as time, because the ball would change size, BUT the 4-dimensional ball exists independently on the time, the only thing which changes is the 3-dimensional "part" of the 4-dimensional ball. But back for why I post this:you shouldn´t try define the 4th dimension, because we, as 3-dimensional beings cannot define it. The 4th dimension just exists-or does not exist;that is each´s opinion, but we(theoretically)can get to the 4th dimension(or, better, change our 4th coordinate), but only if some 4-dimensional thing gets to the 4th dimension, we can´t do it by ourselves. Well, this quite fits to the Other Place, doesn´t it? It is not defined, you can get there by the 4D spirits(or beings like this) etc. (I didn´t think this out, I have an encyclopedia.)
