Oh My Gawd. The New Sexy Covers.

General Discussion

Which Cover is your fav?

Amulet of Samarkand
Golem's Eye
Ptolemy's Gate
Can't choose! All of them are awesome
None. All of them are horrible.
So, I was on Facebook -as usual-, when I suddenly found something that made me squee. Yes. ALL of the new covers were out. And they are the smex.

You already knew about this one, I guess:

This one is the one for GE:

And, finally, PG.

"When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead. True story".
I like PG because of the colour. The other two are a bit too dark for my liking.

I love them all. The artwork is truly stunning.
I just don't like the taglines.

I agree on the taglines. then again the books are mean't to be aimed at kids.

and i like the golems eye cover best, i dunno why, i normally hate cold colours but the touch of purple and the city in the background with the lights makes it better than the other two. I like dark images and the impression of night gives alot of atmosphere that just doesn't happen in the other two.

and i have to say, Ptolemys gate is my least fave.
I wholeheartedly agree with all of you about the taglines.

As for covers, Golem's Eye appeals to me the most; the colour scheme and artwork just work so well with each other, and they give the book a visual touch of darkness which I think fits in with elements of the plot and characters during GE.
Amulet would have been next on my list, but something about the way Bartimaeus was done on that cover seemed a bit off.
Bartimaeus: It won't be the only mad thing about if you let this lot go. Check out that one at the end. He's taken the form of a footstool. Weird...but somehow I like his style.
Nathaniel: That is a footstool. No one's using that Pentacle.

JIZZ. IN. MY. PANTS.

They are TOO sexy to choose.

I can't decide between PG or GE. Though AoS is still damn sexy.

Oh, yeah. I'd get under their covers. ;)

I think I like AoS the best, but they're all gorgeous. DAT GARGOYLE UNF

Yeah, add my vote for GE as the prettiest.

Is it bad I'm considering rebuying these for the pretty covers...?

pfff I have to go with everyone else on the taglines.

But hot damn, Golem's Eye is very woahhh. Not as fond of the other two, but they're still very shiny.

I don't really fancy the new covers - a gargoyle is great the first time, but on all three covers? I prefer the American's cover better - more variety. However, I do like the one for Ptolemy's Gate with this new batch. VERY nice. :)
This is my signature. Why yes, I am quite proud of it, thank you very much. I raised the fellow meself.

^added for comparison. The tagline is funny on this book: "Everyone wants it, No one can have it. Jonathan Stroud."
Luciene you are a scream! Yes, the tagline of RoS is good (especially when put that way =p), but the other three suck. As to the order of my favourite covers: PG> GE> AoS. While the GE cover looks very nice too, I love the background of PG. It seems mystical and taken from some bygone years. I don't know if it is from Ptolemy's time or just London and I don't care. It looks like a painting. And GE cover is described well by Indie and Footstool and I have nothing to add there. And the blurred and menacing background of London in AoS, while my least favourite amongst the three, is good too.
I think I like RoS cover least (more so than AoS). The clouds are putting me off.

Very bad (because I won't be buying it). Just take a glossy print-out of the covers and stick it over your books.

AoS is my least favorite.
But I love GE and PG to death. They are sooooo hot. :gladstone:

Well, I would rebuy'em, considering I don't have the English versions.

Definitely not! This is THE BARTIMAEUS TRILOGY we're talking about; one can never have too many copies, especially not of beautiful ones like these! If I'm extra nice to my parents for a while my budget allows, I might get a whole new set myself. :)

Golem's Eye is pretty. Yah the Bart on the cover seems a little off. RoS cover looks kinda boring.

I have a theory that the blurry effect is because Nat sees everything through rose coloured glasses, he is young and more innocent in AoS. Then in the second book, Nat gets a dark side, but everything is pretty because he thinks everything is all right with the world. And in the final book, London burns, the cabbage hits the fan, Barti and Nat are the edge watching and Nat has to decide which side to pick.

So I’m hoping we see a more thoughtful Barti in the 4th book, because he’s doing the Thinker Pose. Maybe he’s thinking of being less cynical because light breaking through the clouds looks like heaven? And then the black cover would suggest he’s going to be sorely disappointed, but the reader won’t because we know he’ll regain his respect for humans after PG. I need to sleep more, idek what I'm talking about.

Taglines= epic fail

Eeeee, I like the Golem's Eye. I've got to say I like our American covers because of the different shapes...it would have been perfect if they'd varied his forms of the cover, but they probably commissioned them all at once...oh well. Ptolemy's Gate has a really nice one, too.

That is a good theory. Covers usually have more hidden meanings than readers give them credit for.

I don't know about this. It sounds barmy and sensible at the same time.
