I decided to get the forum reviewed in invisionfreeskins,

here it is :

Appearance = [5/10]- The appearance could be better. For one you can see the white edges around the reoky buttons. The forum markers and logo really don't match with the skin. I would suggest getting a new skin and new graphics. Some that would match a little better then the things you have right now. Last thing about the appearance: all the smilies on the reply page stretch the page. That's not good.

Organization = [7/10]- Your organization is good, but could use a little work. The forums about the three books should be moved up to the top of the category Trilogy. Also the Welcome Forum and the Off Topic forum should be moved to a new category at the bottom of the board and perhaps the The Demons/Spirits/Djinn and The Characters forum should be combined.

Orginality = [9/10]- Your orginality is pretty good. I have never run across a Bartimaeus Trilogy Board, but then again I've never looked for one. It's pretty cool that you have the author coming for a visit. Not many boards that are centered around books are able to do that. smiley.gif

Staff = [8/10]- You could probably do with one less global moderator, but other then that you have a pretty good size staff.

Number of Members = [3/10]- You'll need to work on getting more members. Try advertising here and in the IF directory.

Number of Posts = [5/10]- You have a decent amount of posts considering when your board started and how many members you have. Try to encourage your members to post more though.

Overall rating: You board is good, and you have some pretty good ideas, but you could improve on the appearance and the activity of your board.

Yes, we need a skin, and I believe I mentioned that you need to move some of the clickable smileys into just the 'show all' box.

Unfortunately, I haven't a clue on skinning, or I'd have a go.

Other than the looks and a slight reshuffle of the forums, pretty damn good!


And yes, as per usual, the invisionfreeskins link is broken for me.

Despite what they say, you can't judge a book by its cover --- still, people hardly ever even pick up a book unless it looks interesting.

my mite size humble oppinion.
I like the flow of the site,but I agree that the appearance could use some tweaking.I think it's too dark(as in color,not atmosphere)The crinkly satin black background is a bit too..,well black.I would like to see some color.The fonts are too small and wrong color.A grey font on a black background just doesn't work for me.
Sorry, if I sound too critical.What you have here is alot better than what I could do.I'm new here and I want this site to dazzle new comers so they can get hooked on Barty aswell..I just relizes this post probably should have went on the suggestion thread.Sorry

It looks better already without the crinkly black background.Easier on the eyes.Unfortunetly, I know zilch-ola about website design and all the other design lingo.So,I won't be much help in that category.

The background disappearing was a bug.
