my graphics...

so, i've been using the free program photoplus 6.0 for a while. i love making graphics; sigs are my favourite, i hate making blends and icons. i'm active on a couple of graphic sites and may be getting photoshop cs3 soon, which should be awesome since my program is so basic.

anyway, here is some stuff i've made:

They look a bit gloomy, but not bad. Now for the graphic man, Sent to come.
Vinr Alfakyn: hehe thanks, i started off with a tutorial on that one but the textures supplied didn't work so i just did whatever.

Nero: yeah, at the sites i go to these things called grunge/scratch textures are in fashion so i use them quite a bit. they make the graphics a bit darker, but i like the effects. i take it that Sent is the forum's graphic guru?

Have a look at Paint.NET and GIMP if you're after new graphics software - they're both free. Paint.NET is a nice simple interface with a fair bit of power, while GIMP is probably as powerful as Photoshop, but the interface can be a little arcane.

thanks for the advice, i'll go check them out now. the thing is that i really like following tutorials, and i know it's rare to find them for GIMP/Paint... and i don't think any other program has selective colour (i know PSP doesn't, otherwise it would be perfect). if either of those programs have a background eraser / freehand selection tool i'll love them. but i'll download them nonetheless. thanks :)

If you try out GIMP, and want tuts, look at gimpdome.com. I used to do some graphics, (see my sig), and I learned a lot of stuff from there. It's a good program, and there's this version that you can keep on a USB stick, so can take it places with you. Free as well, always a plus.
downloaded GIMP. and there's a freehand selection tool, woot. thanks for the site Random, it looks awesome, and free is always a big plus lol.

You're welcome. It's a nice place there, quite friendly. You can learn a lot, and you've a decent style already. Play about for a bit, then start entering Sig of the Week.
joined XD i don't know whether i'll enter any competitions, though... i'm more of a lurker on most sites.

that being said, i decided i would actually enter a challenge on another graphic site, and the result is the three sets on the white canvas. i really had to push myself not to use my usual style, and to come up with three completely different things... i think they came out okay, though i can't leave the grunge textures alone. if i ever start RPing again they may actually be of some use...

liked the first photo. she's beautiful :D
