More of Ptolemy & Kitty?

Ptolemy's Gate
The commoners join the fray. Will they turn into cruel magicans or follow Kitty's footsteps? Will the magicians themselves change? Will demon's be treated with a little more respect? Will more people follow Ptolemy & Kitty to OP or shall no one learn a lesson? Will the commoners & magicians turn friends?

Tune in next week for... "The Grand adventures of Stroud!"

Sorry, I thought that needed to go there. Cliche and all.

You could ask Stroud himself, but I think his(great) writing left it open to our own(not as great) imagination.
I doubt it. No one is going to believe a teenage girl or a demon.

Ptolemy is a human, not a demon.
Kitty can hardly be called a "little girl," can she?

As for the topic itself, I'm with Cat., but for differen reasons.
Commoners have always hated spirits, otherwise they wouldn't be called 'demons' in such a derogatory manner.
Spirits are the true, unchanging, everlasting symbol of magicians and their rule, the same rule the commoners in London just rid themselves of. They're hardly likely to embrace the symbol of the oppressors.

Somthing akin to the US embracing the Nazi Swastika after World War II.

I was referring to Bart. No one would believe him if they ever asked.
I never said Kitty was a "little girl"

Teenage girl.
Similar.
Bartimaeus is 5,005 years old at the end of PG.
You think he cares about a couple years for us?

He would care for Kitty, but not for humanity itself.

Once humanity dies out from some civil war/global warming I'm sure some alien intelligence will summon the spirits later in the future after discovering these spell books on Earth....

I fail to see how a pwnin' elite has anything whatsoever to do with this forums, accept for alien.
But nothin in Barti universe is alien (as in lil green men), so...

How would you know? There's a lack of scientists. We don't even know if there are other intelligent life. Years after our demise (in Barty's universe) some new life shall restart the act of summoning djinn

I think life itself would have to restart first.

This is going so off-topic. I seriously don't think people's attitude towards demons would change. Kitty would have tried convincing them if she wasn't to leave for the world tour. When she comes back she will realize, she's lost all her authority.

And in one page, too. Some sort of record, don't you think? :P

You'd think that an attack by a bunch of demons who've taken over human bodies and as a result now have free will, would at least get them to think.

Try billions.
Took us a couple billion to get to multicellular.
Some theorize that since life on earth happened by such chance, it hasn't occured anywhere else.

If you haven't noticed, the universe is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mindbogglingly big it is. I mean you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space. No matter how slim the chance of life emerging is, the universe is so huge, it's extremely unlikely that it's only happened in one place in the whole universe.

Yes, so big that there's no end, but we're talking about the time for life to be created on another planet originally uninhabited.

At least, that's what I'm talking about...

True, true, but I'm cynical, pragmatic, and athiest. Not the best combo for belief in aliens, in this or Bartimaeus' world.

The last sentence was my own and the point (which apparently Dansariki got but you did not, which was that with such a vast universe it's almost certain that if life emerges in one place there are others in which it will also), but yes, the first was a Hitchhiker's quote.
Also, as it happens the universe isn't infinite.

I gotta agree with this, although we don't know what the probability of life emerging on a given planet is, and we don't know how many planets there are, so we can't really know how likely it is...
