I don't get why you feel sad for these people... it's not like they'd mourn if you commited suicide tommorow. Celebrities tend to be egomaniacs anymay.

To be fair, they also wouldn't stalk us with cameras every time we leave the house or criticize our fashion sense or weight gain/loss or who we're dating.Post wrote:I don't get why you feel sad for these people... it's not like they'd mourn if you commited suicide tommorow.
I was going to do this but was unsure if it would be appropriate.Sentynel wrote:

Obviously you have not felt the effect of MJ in his prime.nathanielandbartimaeus wrote:12 people committed suicide because MJ died!? What's happening?
I think it's more schadenfreude than that. No one identifies with Britney when she leaves the house without underwear or assaults the paps. We're following Jon and Kate's messy, public divorce because it's entertaining and in cases like MJ, the baby boomers who were actually around when he was big get to relive their fangirly days and because everyone loves a good tragedy, the world can publicly mourn.Post wrote:They would have wanted it, to begin with atleast. All those 'Life and Times' shows, all the tabloids, all allow us to attempt to live their lives vicariously. All the mourning when they die and remind us of human mortality. All those failed marriages and sexual predators who show what happens when you give sexuality too much opportunity.
I admire none of it.

That scene is one of the most AWESOME things on youtube.
I don't like it all because it's petty. It showcases a herd mentality. Whether you love their fame, looks or misfortune, its still vicarious thrillseeking.Luciene wrote:I think it's more schadenfreude than that. Although, as a tabloid addict, i'm hideously biased.

Some people don't have much of a life. That's the essence of it really.n&b wrote:12 people committed suicide because MJ died!? What's happening?
That was such a terrifying and long game, I thought Mirka was going to start contractions whenever then showed her on the screen. Also, I love how at the end the crowd was chanting Roddick.nathanielandbartimaeus wrote:FEDERER IS THE BEST!!!!
