Hello guys! I first started the Bartimaeus Trilogy around the time it came out, and tracked the releases over the years (wow, Amulet was released 7-8 years ago? Such a long time!). I must have around 10 or 11 when I first started reading them (always being an avid reader, particularly of fantasy - at that time I was eating my way through massive adult novels, like Dragonlance and Tolkien). In particular I remember how excited I was to buy Golem's Eye when it was first released.
I'm the kind of person who never gets tired of rereading or rewatching things - every year or so, I'll go back and read one of the Bartimaeus for fun, they're just that entertaining and well written. A week or so ago, I picked up Golem's Eye from the library, not having read it in a while (lent my copy to a friend years ago, never had it returned! D': ) and suddenly remembered how much I loved the series and the characters. As soon as I'd finished it I returned and borrowed out Ptolemy's Gate, and devoured it in a day (my final school exams start in two weeks (off to uni next year, hopefully to do art) - somehow, knowing that I spent time reading instead of studying makes me feel less guilty than it should). When I have time I'll reread Amulet of Samarkand as well (only reason I didn't this time around was because I've read it so many times, I could recite it from memory (okay, no I couldn't, shh, but I know it back to front).
Suddenly inspired to trawl the net looking for the fandom (to me, fandom is one of the best things about a book, movie, band etc etc. Looking at all artistic creativity and reading the discussions is just as fun as reading the books themselves! - since I was so young when I first read them, I never looked beyond the books themselves), I realised how much extra titbits there were to the Trilogy - Jonathan's own site, Bart's journal... Of course, the best information was about the prequel, which I'm desperately excited for.
And then, I found these forums! Instantly, I had to join, and hopefully I'll be able to draw some art, maybe even write a fanfic, as well as find the time to write a few questions to Jonathan (which is incredibly awesome, to know that he responds people and participates with the fans - being someone who's determined to be a published writer some day, it's so great to see such a friendly author! It probably sounds like a noob question, but does he have a personal email to send emails to, or would you need to forward them through his publishers? I'd like to write to him and say how grateful I am for the books, without clogging up the Questions subforum with things that have already been answered.).
So, in closing.... hi!
And I hope I can find the time to participate in the fandom!
