I read a horror story by John Bellairs with a lamia. Some sort of big vampire thing that could control minds, and its form was made of the stuff around it, like cloth or paper. I don't think it's the same one. :lol2:

Yes. Apparently, all names in HP do have a meaning which suitably fits the character. Voldermort means 'dark lord', Petunia 'jealous', Luna 'weird' etcetc.
