I saw this thread on another forum of the sort and thought it was an interesting topic.
Anyway, do you think Kitty returned Nathaniel's feelings in the end of the book. I think she did since she said, "So much for promises" when she was at that place. Too bad the pairing can't work... unless it's fanfiction.
I honestly dont know, they had feelings for each other for sure though...
'"That's right," I said "Me. What, did you think that I'd be all nice and quiet for you? Think again, sonny. There are two of us in this body now. Check this out."
To prove my point I lifted one of his fingers and methodically picked his nose. He uttered a squawk of protest. "Stop that!"'
I lowered the arm. "That's not all I can do if I put your mind to it"'

That'd be a kind of sudden romance...o_o

The three ships. Kinda like the Mayflower and all those.
yeah they had feelings for each other by the end of the book, but wether there was a romance by the end I dont know as she may have felt like that as a powerful magician, who she had only recently trusted, died. This could explain her feelings for him or it might be that she began to have deeper feelings for him.
they certainly had understanding and friendship I think. and trust too.

Well, I believe they were going that direction. I mean, they were progressing pretty well seeing as they didn't have a lot of time together. Besides, when a plot has malfuntioned by a madman, and de-dijjin are loose, you are a little distracted and romance isn't exactly on the high priority list. However, if Nathaniel hadn't kicked the bucket, the pair would definatley have enough time to focus on feelings and stuff. I'm an undying Nat/Kitty shipper, and will stay that way for a long time.

there could have been an awesome sequal if Nat had not died :( :( :(

well, i guess Stroud planned the trilogy that way.......
i really wonder if therea re going to be any new books..... :P
hi there
As I quote from another site, "Stround left the trilogy open for fanfiction." :P Which is true if you think about it, aftering looking at a few of the Bartimaeus fanfiction on fanfiction.net.
It does seem that Kitty felt something towards Nat, even if it might not have been as strong as love. :sigh: If only he didn't die. But I think it's a fitting ending.
it was a beautiful ending *sniff* it was just the crowning touch that the trillogy needed *sniff*

Along with everyone else, yes, I think they did have something between them, but it never got to a certain point, but they ceratinly woul;d've hokked up if he hadnt't...well...die.
PS: We all know it's Kitty And Bartimaeus all the way. :P
I doubt it.She despised John Mandrake for years. She didn't really start to be civil to him until the last 20% percent of book 3 and that was only a few hours.True,He devulsed his real name and wanted to start a new life, but there was too much history for Kitty to overlook in just a few short hours.Givin time,She probably would have started a romance with Nat.
that would have been very interesting....
hi there
I Doubt it. She trusted him, that's it.
They were comrades in arms; what was she supposed to say?
And you Nathaniel liked her; it was only hinted. Stuff it up to fanfiction... For all we know he was in love with Farrar.

Seeing as it was pretty much directly said and is included in several summaries of the book and even Stroud has confirmed it in an interview, I'd say Nathaniel did have feelings for her.

ah idd,
i guess we will never find out what could have been *day-dreams*

Hmm, kinda strange how in hard times people get closer...
And Nat liked her...
There was this part when Bart was already inside him, and he could see her in the seventh plane, and he said something like "Wow, you're beautiful", and that's just little, she got him distracted, and, since her "death", he had been redeeming himself little by little, that's why Bart used her guise...
And he only felt attracted to Farrar because she was younger than most womans around her, and because she was (apparently) attractive, but they never knew each other for real... You know it, boys go crazy with pretty girls...
And yeah, of course they would have improved their relationship if he hadn't, well, died.
After all, I'm K/N forever and ever after.

Do I see the even most subtle hint of shipping there Gladstone?
Yes, Kitty did like him back. Don't know if it was as far to the extent Nat did though. But now that he's kicked the bucket, she'll probably marry Jakob though.
