Khaba and Ammet

Do you ever just think about how when Ptolemy came along, Bartimaeus's only model for a spirit loving a human on any level at all was probably Khaba and Ammet? Do you ever just start to think about how that must have informed all his interactions with Ptolemy, especially given his loathing for the way Ammet was so selflessly devoted to Khaba? Not to mention Ammet's unhealthy need for codependency, and the fact that the whole thing was incredibly unrequited and unbalanced. Do you ever just think about how Ptolemy might have died before Bartimaeus ever fully worked himself past those things?

Well cabbage. That's a good point, but seeing as he had no problems on using Ptolemy as his form, I hope he eventually worked it out.

True, but it definitely makes the reading of the parts in Ptolemy's Gate where we see, well, Ptolemy, feel a bit different.
