Questioner asked if he felt bad about killing Nat:
Jonathan Stroud wrote:I didn't feel bad about Nat, not really - I'd have felt worse if I'd betrayed him by giving him some kind of dodgy moral get-out clause at the end. I think he had to redeem himself this way.
:D He's fully talking about HP

also, I love how he included the word moral. And how this proves BT is less preachy then all those other cabbagety fantasy fiction books.

Well, Harry didn't really need to redeem himself. (Unless you count him touching that filth Ginny---bleech.)

But yeah, Nat's death>stupid effing epilogue.

Thats funny.....His death, is SOOOO much better than that damn epilogue!

BTW, this place has changed alot since I've been here!...Oh my god! NEW SMILIES!

The epilogue should have been a whole lot better, but JS is right; Nat's death doesn't really fit with the "they all lived happily ever after" kind of ending. More like "they lived happily ever after but not without consequences".

I liked Nat's death. It was sad, of course, but fitting, too. ^_^

Perfectly.

I think Luciene was talking about Snape. It fits him thoroughly. That's one reason why I always felt Nat & Snape are really alike.

My sentiments exactly. Nathaniel's death was the only way to redeem himself. If he had lived, it would have been more sad. Of course I cried at the end, but it had to be done.
I guess the ending shows us how horribly unfair life can be... -_-
