This questions has popped up quite alot across the forum.
Was Jane one of the wolves that worked in the night police, did she have the ability to become a wolf?
On the subject, are people born with this ability?
Thanks Jonathan

hi there
Hi William,
It's a tough one this. I'm not sure that she is. She doesn't seem to possess the usual traits: ie. being hirsute, bulky, quick to anger. If anything she's the opposite - a cool customer, able to keep herself well under control. Most of Duvall's greybacks and Duvall himself were quick to change when under stress. Farrar doesn't do this. Having said that, she is associated with the wolves continually; perhaps they need to have a non-wolf in command, someone who is able to keep the rational, human side uppermost and keep them under control. This seems the most likely explanation.
Bart claims that Gladstone developed the Night Police using complex incantaions and inaugurated breeding programmes to sustain them. I think that 150 years later it's probably mainly an inherited trait, just as the whole resilience traits are passed on and developed in the general population. So a small Gladstone-era group of initial werewolves (created using spirits' magic) has passed their abilities down to today.
