Defidently more fun to read about. Farqual wouldn't make much of a main character.
There is a sort of busy worm,
That will the fairest book deform,
Their tasteless tooth will tear and taint
The poet, patiot,sage or saint,
Nor sparing wit nor learning.
Now, if you'd know the reason why,
The best of reasons I'll supply;
'Tis bread to this poor vermin.

...You never know...Stroud could make it very interesting.

Yeah, well Stroud makes everything interesting.
farq may be in theory stronger but bartimaeus i think would win. he did in the first book. bartimeaus seems more clever. thats why he beats alot of enemys.not his magical strenghth but other stuff he does also
How dare you insult the North Star!!! <_<

Farqual is stronger than Barti, though not by much because they are the same class of spirit. It says in various places that Barti was once able to defeat afrits, so I gather that once, Barti was able to defeat Farqual.
I wish I were a cat-dragon
IF Bartimaeus said that then it was probably a lie. We've seen him fight Faquarl several times and the recurring theme of those confrontations appears to be, "Holy **** it's Faquarl better skedaddle!"

Farqual is stronger but Barti has enitiative. We all love initiative.

Depends on what form of 'stronger' people mean. For brute strength, Farquarl would probably beat Barty, but Barty's initiative might be the clincher to pull him through as the winner if he fought Farquarl directly. It's a confusing one. I'm guessing that the result would be different each time the fight played out. Stuff like where they fought would make a big difference, too.
Sadly, Farquarl. Even Barti admited that. Barti is definitly smarter though! Go Barti!!!! :D
It could play out either way, but it leans toward Faquarl. Just barely. :alien:

Faquarl is to Bartimaeus as cats are to mice.

Faquarl's stronger, I think.
I think Jabor's somthing closer to a demi-afrit.

Farqual is, I think that has been established. I think I've gone crazy though. Even though Farqual is the bad guy, I really think he's awesome. :D

I have to disagree and say that Farqual is smarter than Bartimaeus as well. Smarter means stronger, and thats basically all there is to it. Maybe it's just because Farqual seems so pompous, Farqual seems to have had the better masters throughout the ages. Whats the use of a powerful demon that doesn't know anything.

smarter doesn't exactly mean stronger it just means you have more ways to use your power unlike Jabor known for his power but also his stupidity(not to mention his constant use of detonations)Jabor may even be stronger than Farqual, but as I said he has more ways to use his power and therefore at least seems stronger. I still think that Farqual is stronger though.

people...listen...

Bartimaeus WAS stronger than faqural..long back..in the ptolemy times..he could have defeated ANYONE then...he was one of the most potent djinn..but now,in the present times, any random djinn is stronger to barty..faqural is,no doubt, very strong and is much stronger to any other djinn but my barty has just become a wee bit old and has lost most of his glaumering[is that even a word?] energy..

so to your question:faqural is,presently mind, stronger to bart..

lurrvee yahh barty!!

I disagree. Barty couldn't have defeated anyone. He was still the same level djinn and he was just the strongest djinn in Alexandria, because there were no others until Ptolemy later summoned more.

He did a nice job defeating those demons that murdered Ptolemy.
