Most of you probably know this already, but Aragorn and Arwen are cousins.

Elrond's twin brother El-something chose mortality because he has half elven and founded the Numenoreans. Aragorn is supposedly a direct descendant, so he'd be Arwen's cousing 63 or 64 times removed (haven't counted for myself).

Well, that's kind of common in Lord of the Rings.

*SPOILER WARNING FOR Children of Hurin and the Sil*

I mean, Turin and his sister got married in JRR Tolkien's newest book.

"You belong in Gryffindor,
where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
set Gryffindors apart."

Eh that's not a spoiler, it's in the Silmarillion.
Nothing to see here, move along.

I know. I suppose I should have put that for the Sil too.

But it's still a spoiler for people who've only read The Hobbit or Lord of the Rings.

Pick an average person on the street and you'll probably be that closely related to them at least.

Still, it's neat to see the connections.

It's not his book, his Son wrote it using his notes.

I refuse to read anything by Chris. Re-reading The Silmarillion, I find it so...tedious.

It's strange, You can make out what is Tolkien and what is not. Flashes of Brilliance in otherwise bland pages.

I agree. Once, I saw this family tree showing how Aragorn was like 0.0002--% Maiar.

I've never read the Silmarillion. Is it worth reading?
Yes, it is.

And I suppose that's true, but I read some lines that are distinctly Tolkien.

In that case it's time to eye mum's credit card.

You can't get anything from bookstores these days. It's Amazon this, Amazon that.

If you want something Obscure, yes. Amazon. The Silmarillion? Bookstore.

Amazon is awesome. I buy pretty much everything from it. So much easier than going to a real shop which probably won't have it anyway and will charge twice as much.

Amazon is the best place to get books.

It's cheaper and has a larger selection (obviously).

Amazon kind of annoys me because I ordered from them once and it came 2 weeks late -___-

But it's really hard to get books here because I live in China and everything is Chinese. The English books we get are the really popular ones.

If that happens, you just email them about it and they'll refund your shipping costs.
