Most fish we eat are farmed. They're hardly swimming in their own crap, though. The farms are generally mesh cages in rivers or the sea, so it gets washed away. They are fed all sorts of nasty stuff like colourings and growth hormones, though.
Most chickens we eat have been selectively bred so they have as much meat as possible. Sometimes they're so heavy their own legs break under the weight. Growth hormones and so on are also used.
