How did Honorius get there by the way?

Golem's Eye
Hi! :new:

I just want to ask a few questions, how do you think Honorius got himself encased in Gladstone's bones? Do you think he's summoned by Gladstone himself before he died? If so, isn't there a rule somewhere that when the master dies, the spirit is free? Just curious. o.O

I suspect Honorius was selected for the task by Gladstone before he died, and was summoned and bound to his bones by one of his servants after his death.

If so, hundreds of years have passed, right? His master (the one who summoned him) should be dead by then. I'm just wondering how they have kept Honorius there for too long. And he often says that a certain Mr. G will not be pleased, which I assumed was Gladstone

The binding to an object is different from a standard summoning. Rather than being tied to the caster, the spirit is tied to the object itself, and the bonds last as long as the object, not the caster. The same principle applies to magic artefacts which have been in use for centuries (the bind also appears to shield the spirit from the regular wear and tear of a summoned spirit, so they keep their effectiveness through the long centuries; see unfortunates like Atlas).

Oh, now I get it. Yeah I remembered now. I guess the master-gets-squashed-spirit-is-free idea just got stuck to my head. :D Thank you for enlightening me! :D
Uhm, just wondering, if Honorius is bound to gladstone's bones and not summoned into it, why can he manipulate the object i.e. Gladstones bones to obey his free will? Isn't it that objects containing djinni only serves a single purpose, and could not be activated on its own?

Presumably it depends on the exact terms of the binding. Spirits bound to magicians' bodies, for example, were able to affect the nerve impulses in order to take over, so some degree of autonomy is certainly possible.
Generally you don't want your magic items setting themselves off, because boy would THAT cause problems, so they're restricted so they can only operate under external influence, but that wasn't desired for Honorius' particular case.

It's the end of the world in the most badass mythology around: Norse.

That figures. Doesn't have the slightest clue about Norse mythology. :p They didn't teach us anything here! Oh, well. :D The only Ragnarok I knew about is the game.
