It's gotta end. It's been going too strong for too long.
Besides, that doesn't even make any sense. Even if Harry survives, that doesn't mean that people can use him in their own stories without JKR's permission. And killing a character doesn't stop him from being alive in other works. See also 'Sherlock Holmes', 'Nathaniel/John Mandrake', 'Dallas' from Outsiders...
i agree...if ppl try 2 use harry with out her permission..she can sue them cuz thats copyright and could b persuded by the law so idk she will kill him

After she's dead. Fifty years later after an author is dead their characters can be reused.

Didn't make that clear, but that's what she said.

"You belong in Gryffindor,
where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
set Gryffindors apart."

I want him to die, it would be a much more satisfying end.

No.

It'd be a crappy ending.

"You belong in Gryffindor,
where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
set Gryffindors apart."

He's had way too much good luck already. I wouldn't buy it if he got lucky again. But he has to die killing Lord V.

No.

Anyway, he isn't going to kill Voldy.

He has to kill Lord V. That's the point of the story. JKR wouldn't destroy the world. And you don't really expect him to convert him to Gryffindorism and the Light Side...

No.

He'll be defeated, but Harry won't kill him.

The wizarding press would be so dissappointed if that happened.

Who wants Skeeter to be happy?

The fans in real life would be disappointed as well. When all the titles have the words "Harry Potter" in them, you'd expect him to be the hero.

Really? Where did you get that? I'm pretty darned sure that estates can hold onto copyrights and stuff and I don't think that the company who made the movies and all those tie-in products will just drop Harry that fast.

Yep, Fibber's right. Check out the copyright notice on LOTR. They've got the origanel, and about 3 or 4 renewals, for each book. But, let's say, that 50 years after Rowlings death, her kids/grandkids, don't renew the copyright. The characters, the plot, and everything, is all yours.

Actually, now that I think about it, it might be more than 50 years. More like 100.

It says:
wrote:Generally, copyright expires 50 years after the author dies and the work is said to come into the "public domain," available for anyone to use and copy without seeking permission from the copyright owner.
But she could sell it to a company and they'd renew it for her.

She'd have to sell the entire copyright. Therefore, it wouldn't be her's anymore. I doubt she'd do that.

She could put it in her will.

She said it in the Richard and Judy interview.

Yes, you can do things to prevent but....

"You belong in Gryffindor,
where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
set Gryffindors apart."

Harry Potter is a big money-maker and a wildly successful book series. It's...exceedingly unlikely that the publishers will just drop it after J.K. Rowling dies and allow some other guy to snap up the characters and make money off of them. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard of a popular modern book series doing something like that.

Either Voldy or Harry dies. That's the way it is. They have to battle. It's the "Prophecy"
