Seriously, I am shocked. It's completely a Western concept. Yet we celebrate it with so much enthusiasm & fanfare here & you have not even heard of it?
Possibly, your countries stopped celebrating it ages ago. Don't know why though.

Wow. Never heard of it either.

Sounds like the sort of holiday for a group of girly girls to have. Y'know, to have an excuse to make bracelets and braid each other's hair. Not saying it's a bad thing, but how could that one have spread?

You surely don't know what friendship day is.
Guys celebrate it just as much. And I make bands (cause its fun), but most buy it. There is this guy in my class who wore a plain white T-shirt to college today. People scrawled messages on it & at the end of the day the T-shirt had more blue, green & red than white. Some scrawl words on people's hand too.
It's just a day to celebrate with your friends, a day to call & wish your 'old' & 'forgotten' friends, a day to sit & remember all the fun we had together. Pretty much like Mothers/Fathers Day. People make cards for their friends, but no one plaits braids.

Blah not much. We don't feel like we need days to celebrate famous leaders, and we have "Remembrance Day" instead of "Veteran's Day," but I don't think anything else is different.

We celebrate a good 50 or more festivals every year :P .
