I know this will be 'answered' in book 7, which is out this summer, but what are your thoughts about who becomes a ghost and who doesn't? I'm been very curious about this, and i've even done some research, but none of it fits completely with the story.

I think this was answered mainly in book 5.

Only wizards become ghosts, people who don't want to move on, and people who were unhappy in life seem to stay on earth. Like Myrtle, Nick, ect.

Muggles never seem to contribute anything. They just seem to be simple worthless bumbleheads versus witches and wizards who are the 1337 group and oh so much better than normal people.

Meh, I'm starting to turn anti HP now.

Sorry, off topic.

Think Voldy is gonna be a ghost then?

No.

Because his soul has been split. I think your soul has to be whole to become a ghost.

Awww...

Voldie and Bella could've been ghosts together for eternity haunting some forest. Why must my ships always have to be sunk?

Voldie and Bella can still be together or am I completely blanking out and forgetting something?

That was also mainly my theory about ghosts, people who don't want to move on, but sometimes it makes me wonder. Sirius for example, he'd want to stay, he wouldn't want to completely move on. He doesn't seem the type to just give up and say 'oh. i died'.

But you see, the thing about ghosts is they don't want to go to the other side. Because there is something. Sirius wouldn't be giving up, he'd be moving on to be with his friends, like James Potter.

Of course, the other side would be a place of eternal tormet, tortured in various ways by demons...

Do not believe their lies, 'their in a better place now...' They want to feed on your soul.

That would on be in Pullman's books and they sucked.

Well, ok, it was a bit different but I never lost an opprotunity to disagree with Post or insult Pullman.

I can't stand that aspect of HP. HP is probably the only fiction where the magical people are the irritating turds with a drab, dated culture.
Nothing to see here, move along.

We've met what, seven muggles?

The Dursley's, Dudley's Gang, and the Grangers.

The Grangers were perfectly nice.

And I'm not counting the nice ice cream lady at the zoo.

Well, the Muggles still remain a helpless group that has to depend on wizards to help them.

I've forgot the PM.

Well, no, not really. Because most of them don't want to or associate with magic. The only one who thought magic was something special was the PM.

Sucked, no.

And what exactly does the crucius curse do anyway? It's supposed to cause extreme, mind numbing pain and people can just stand up and go all magical kung fu a second after being hit by it?

That Crucious curse torments people somehow.

I think that it depends on who does it and how long it is done....well the well being of the totured, that is.

I seriously douby Voldy can be a ghost--his soul is split.

I second that. Voldemort as a ghost would be just - wrong. And once she made him a ghost there would be no turning back.
There is a sort of busy worm,
That will the fairest book deform,
Their tasteless tooth will tear and taint
The poet, patiot,sage or saint,
Nor sparing wit nor learning.
Now, if you'd know the reason why,
The best of reasons I'll supply;
'Tis bread to this poor vermin.
