Tests ended on Thursday, and I can finally toss those notes aside (for now) and draw Barty characters, who are always fun to draw. Here's a character study of Natto-chan, with Nathaniel in the olden days before Lovelace, Dolce & gabbana et. al and after. I hope I managed to capture the urbane-ness (love that word) of Mr Mandrake. That stage of Nat's life was the hardest to capture on paper for me because there just aren't any real life examples. oO;

I love how you draw Nat with long hair. :wub: I've never thought Underwood and Lovelace to have facial hair, plus I imagined Farrar and Whitwell differently. Thanks for contributing though, thought I'd make this thread so people can see different versions of characters.

I know this scene isn't really in the book, it's a product of my head. I wanted to draw Kitty in kick-ass Resistance mode as that was what made me love her in the first place. Kitty finds herself hunted by the Night Police -at night, but I don't feel like colouring at the moment- and hides in an alley some where. I decided to throw in a frightened Jakob for good measure. I'm not happy with how I depicted Jakob and the alley...it's hard. =/

Well, the frightened Jakob is realistic.

And your Nathaniel rocks. He was so different as a boy...

Thanks! I tried to age him as best as I could. It's the eyes that are different to me. I gave the little Nat sad eyes.

I think Stroud mentioned that Mr Underwood had long, thin white beard (people, correct me if I remember wrong!) As for Lovelace - no, Stroud didn't write he had a moustache, but I thought that would suit him :mwamba:

It's pretty ironic that Underwood fits into the bearded wise magician/wizard stereotype and is anything but. Speaking of which, I thought I saw Dumbledore, Harry and Madam Hooch in Agi's character sheet at first. Hope that didn't offend you Agi. ^^But there's proof that Nat owns them all. *is aware that I shouldn't be saying 'owns' without a clue how to spell it*

Anyway, I just added Jane and Kitty portraits to the Nathaniel ones, and the complete picture can be found here. I think I'll link all my pics there in future, since I'm sure most people find that preferable.

Don't worry, you didn't offend me, I do imagine Whitwell a bit like Hooch (just much nastier). As for Underwood... it was Stroud's 'fault' that he described him looking like the 'wise wizard type' even if he's a total idiot.
But who did you think was Harry in my Barty character sheet? (Lovelace, perhaps? Because of his glasses?)

Wow, Luciene, that's gorgeous (even though his hair isn't black, and it should be ;)) I really hope they'll choose the right boy to play Arty in the movie (the same stands for Nathaniel...) Thank heaven in Harry Potter they managed to find the rigth kids, but Artemis and Nathaniel on screen is my big fear... I'd hate to see my dear 'nasty boys' played by someone pathetic...

The author chose someone for Arty. At least he had preferences, but then, I think they cancelled the movie. They took it off IMBD. Oh and his hair is really black in other pics.

OMG!! Is that Frederico Moyano? I used a pic of him as a ref for my Artemis portrait. Here's a pic of him (not the one I used, that one's buried somewhere in my vast photo collection :mwamba: )

Hmm, now I realize they don't look alike. Silly me. That's a great picture, you could edit his complexion and he'd be a perfect Artemis. Have you seen the ad for Armani Code? There's no Arty in it, but the fact that Armani has a perfume called code is pretty interesting. Armani's the predominant brand in the books, and 'code'...duh.

I checked out this Tobias Brahmst, and yeah, he does look Arty-ish. Especially this pic:

Yah.. He's got a much thinner face than Henry. And I always imagined James Statham was Butler, Winona Ryder was Holly and Camilla Finn. But Camilla's a model. The rest were the author's choice.
