Go the return of the king

I actually preferred the Fellowship. The other two are almost all huge battles, which get a little boring after watching them all five times through.

I liked the Fellowship as well. And the acting was the best in it, I think. TT was the worst.

Because it went far from the book.

In the EE, I liked them better because they added more Character Development.

Havent seen that one yet. But TR of the K has Mumakil and cosairs in it, which makes it trully fantastic

I've seen each film once at the cinema and four times on extended edition DVD. (Watched the cast commentary for each one, too...)

I liked Fellowship the most. It was closer to the book. The other two had great battles though. And you can't see Gollum in FotR, except as a shadow and eyes.
And the extended ones are awesome. I once watched all three extended editions one after the other at a party. And then I watched them all over again. :D
Howard Shore's music is awesome too. I got his autograph. :)

The Two Towers and Return of the King are the best in my books, but Fellowship is still good. It's got that innocent feel to it, but the other two have more action :D

Personally I like the Two Towers, even though everyone here seems not to. The Fellowship is just an introduction and the Return of the King is mostly battles.

You can catch Gollum clinging to a log floating in the water at the end of the FotR. I voted for Fellowship, mainly because of the mines of Moria. I love that part in the book and have Gandalf's lines memorized.

'You cannot pass,' he said. The orcs stood still, and a dead silence fell. 'I am a servant of the Secret Fire, weilder of the flame of Anor. You cannot pass. The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udun. Go back to the Shadow! You cannot pass.'

Too bad the movie messed up his words. I guess 'You shall not pass' sounds more dramatic than 'You cannot pass.'

The Two Towers is my favorite book, however. I love how Tolkien just keeps going and doesn't bother reintroducing any of the characters and places (unlike some books; i.e. Harry Potter :D ).

I might have voted for Return of the King, but the sappy 35 minute happy ending kind of ruined it for me. The epic battle scenes were pretty sweet, however. (At the Morrannon, Aragorn sort of overdid his role there, didn't he? Lopping off the guy's head and all that. That wasn't in the book.)

And how did you get Howard Shore's autograph?!?!? I want one of those!!!

Yeah that gets pretty annoying in Harry Potter. And then in the fifth one she just stops. You can't do that every book and just stop with the fifth one. It's wierd.

Meh. I voted Return of the King. A sword: 150 dollars. The Ring: 2500 dollars. Gollum's expression as he died: Priceless.

I guess the way the Ring was destroyed was alright, but I was hoping for a more dramatic finality to it. Also, I thought it might have to be fully submerged, so I was worried when the lava started flowing away.

I think they did that final battle in Orodruin very well. Followed the book quite nicely (except of course for the cliffhanger part, where we all got to see lovely closeups of Frodo's bloody hand).

Oh yeah! I remember that now! Closeups of Frodo's mutilated hand: Priceless.

I liked the Two Towers the best I think. Either that or the Fellowship, I didnt really like the Return of the King... good battles though :D

the battles were intense, loved em. i agree, there's a lot more innocence and better acting in the FotR.

yes the ents also there are gondorieans, 3rd age high Elvin archers and swords men................................. i think.

It's a tossup between FotR and RotK for me. RotK has a magnificent ending but FotR has Moria and some other bits that I enjoyed.
