Besides Bartimaeus.

oh cool, wish I'd thought of this.

anyway, it has to be asmira, being the main one she was the most developed and I liked her thinking in the fact that she didn't just go with the i-hate-the-queen-because-she-killed-my-mother thing that most characters do, instead she did that opposite by brainwashing herself because she needed her mothers death to have a meaning. I liked that. :D

I preferred Faquarl, purely because of the banter between him and Barti.

unfortunately, i like character development over everything so i always (unoriginally) go with the main characters. :(

I had to go for Asmira as well, though Solomon is certainly an interesting character; the dichotomy between his external appearance and the reality.

It was close, but I'm with Faquarl on this one. Although Asmira and Solomon are equally interesting characters in their own right, it was nice to see more from someone we already knew a bit about. Especially if that someone provides hilarious comic fodder. :P
Bartimaeus: It won't be the only mad thing about if you let this lot go. Check out that one at the end. He's taken the form of a footstool. Weird...but somehow I like his style.
Nathaniel: That is a footstool. No one's using that Pentacle.

Wow other people liked Faquarl to? Him and Barti have best parts of the book "Right, lets eat her" After Asmiras grand speach, haha. Its funny how Barti got nicer and Faquarl got worse over the years. I liked him and Solomon who I almost picked because hes a new character. And you should have put the spirit of the ring in there. I think he was interesting. I didn't really like Asmira except for the character developement
I really liked Solomon because he was not as bad as everyone else thought he was. He was actually nice and caring. And cause he was all powerful! Muahaha.

Faquarl, the "civil" conversation between Barti and Faquarl in the lime quarry concerning Khaba was priceless... Also the not too subtle remark from Faquarl, "you'll be the death of me...", ha.

I actually had fun with Ammet. I mean come, on, a marid lapdog? Actually no, it's like a giant blow-up of Simpkin in some ways, except Ammet can kick some ass. That, and he's probably one of the few characters to set Bart off in a genuine fit of--admittedly awesome--rage, as well as foreshadow Ptolemy.

THANK THE LORD, I'M NOT ALONE.

...I voted for Faquarl, in case anyone was wondering.
This is my signature. Why yes, I am quite proud of it, thank you very much. I raised the fellow meself.

yes, i liked ammet alot ( and magicians back then were alot more powerful than now-a-days if a kid, probably around nats age in Aos, can summon a marid  ) i just didn't see where the affection came from. i'd love if this was explained a bit more by jonathan stroud. i wonder, has anyone posted any questions to him yet?

anyone got any theories on this?

My order:
1) Faquarl
2) Asmira
3) Solomon
4) Ammet
5) Hiram
6) Queen of Sheba
7) Khaba
8) Gezeri

The first three are ranked close together and so are the last three.

My turn!! :D
In my opinion, Asmira is extremly boring (gets shot), Khaba is lame, Gezeri is annoying and Balkis is a Jane Farrar.

I feel indifferent toward Hiram, but I liked the green eyed mouse spirit (afrit? marid?).

Solomon turned out to be an interesting character, I loved Ammet and my fav from the list has to be Faquarl because of three reasons:
1. He's awesome.
2. He wanted to eat Asmira.
3. He totally wanted to look up Barti's skirt.

And yeah, as always, Bartimaeus wins.
By the way, where is Uraziel? I liked him a lot.
"When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead. True story".
I really liked Solomon. Although Faquarl was as great as usual.

Completely agree with Canis Lupus back there. Solomon I found to be the best, (not counting Barti, of course), because he turned out to be the exact opposite of what I'd thought him to be. He wasn't typical ancient royalty (mean, evil, greedy, etc.) he was just a kind person with the wrong council. :leader:

Somehow, I'm not surprised that no one picked the Queen of Sheba. Does anyone like her?
(Typical ancient royalty, she was. Not even caring about the people who save your lives. Tch!) ^o)

Also, how come no one picked Khaba? All right, maybe he was the main antagonist of the book, but hey, for an evil character he was pretty good. He just may have been a bit excessive with the essence flail, not that I'm defending him.
Of course Bartimaeus has my heart!
But If I can't vote for him it would have to be Faquarl.
I thoroughly enjoy their banter! :pac:

Solomon would definitely be my third choice. I was totally thrown when he turned out to be a great guy!

I agree with some of the other peoples' opinion of Asmira. If it weren't for her interactions with ol' Barti her character would have been totally lame.
