Calvin and Hobbes is great, but some of the webcomics are great too. Stuff like the Order of the Stick and Ctrl Alt Del.
My all time favourite comic/cartoony thing (it isn't really a comic...) is the Matt cartoon from the Telegraph newspaper in the UK. Absolutely brilliant, consistently.

Matt cartoon - some of them are topical for UK news, but some are international.

Ctrl Alt Del - about a couple of gamers. Highly amusing.

The Order of the Stick - set in a D&D-style roleplaying game. Very funny. Especially comic #20.
