Hasn't that been around for ages? The bigger the house, the nicer the area, the more you pay. And then you don't benefit from it!

"The base for the tax is residential property. Each dwelling is allocated to one of eight bands coded by letters A through H (I in Wales) on the basis of its assumed capital value (as of 1 April 1991). Newly constructed properties are also assigned a nominal 1991 value."
Sounds pretty much like a tax based on how expensive your house is to me. Guess they're just trying to rename it so they can get even MORE money.

but it isnt. that is related to area and all that jazz. now they are actually going to find out how much it is worth and tax you for that. so, whose for smearing Cabbage on the walls when the guy comes to check it out?

oh are you on about the area where you live will affect your tax, like living on a council estate with high crime will incrase the tax? somehow i don't see that will go through.
you guys spend your free time arguing about taxes?

I thought I was strange...

meh...we live in england. in a few years we will have to pay tax.

nat, no. living on a council estate with high crime will decrease your tax. stupid, but true.

"on the basis of its assumed capital value" You are currently taxed on how much your house is worth.

Assumed: the tax is based on the value of the property in 1991, and if your house was built after then, they assume a 1991 value.
You lose.

What, that they're taxing us on the value of our properties? I never said they're not, I said they always have, which is right.

Council tax is based solely on the value of the property. Crime rate affects the value of your property.

Go on then, Abel. Prove that council tax is based on things other than the value of your house.

Hmm? Don't you have to first earn a sizeable income first? Which means getting outta college?

And Property taxed is always based on the market value of the property. Live with it...
