I picked that Nat didn't deserve it and that it was satisfiying-
F for me. I loved the ending I was kind of sad that Nathaniel Died but I found him really unpleasent after the first book. But saying that he is still one of my favourite characters.

Nathaniel is my second favourite character. And you can't blame him much for being unpleasant; at an impressionable age, his master taught him that a bad magician is an incompetent one. Not an evil one.

Nat falls in the category if the charismatic and calculating villain. It's a pretty standard villain in a lot of books, but he (and rarely she) is always a grown up character. I think it's awesome how we get to see how this type of man evolves out of a more or less normal, albeit very intelligent kid. The general feeling of Nat being unpleasant means that JS is consequent about writing the books from the PoV of the villains and not of the heroes.

Also, I know only one other book in which this type of character is the main character. Alright, Bart is a main character too, but his type of character (the malevolent and witty but slightly pathetic character) I've found more often. (I've been hunting books with villainous and malevolent main characters for pretty much all my life - are at least since I've been able to read books ;p)

I finished reading this book like just ten-fifteen minutes ago and I'm still in the shock of it.

I didn't like the ending at all. There was an emotional connection one develops to the characters and ending it like that really comes as a shock.

Also, I've been thinking about it and I think I have a better ending in mind. But first let me get over the shock of this all.
Well, if you think about it, it shocked you. It surprised you. It made you feel something. Which, in my opinion, is good.

Natty-Boy was my second fav character -or maybe my fav-, and I cried when he died, but, still.

I thought that the ending made the Bartimaeus Trilogy the most memorable books that I've ever read- I thought that the ending was brilliant, though I was sad that Nathaniel met his end.
Signatures are for triangles.
Mr. Stroud has though commented on the ending, saying that tho he might maybe be dead, it doesn't mean we won't see him again ^_^

-E) Satisfying
-B) Bad. Just horrible. Nathaniel didn't deserve his ending
*I chose those two because that's how I really feel, and because it let me :P

In truth, I was satisfied with the ending. It wrapped things up kinda nicely and was just very epic. That being said, I was a bit angry that Nathaniel died.
Even though the books are called the "Bartimaeus Trilogy", its really not, when you think about it. I mean, Bartimaeus has apparently had Hundreds of adventures, not just the ones the book focused on. To me it felt more like the 'Nathaniel Trilogy', because it was basically All of Nathaniel's (and Kitty's) adventures. Bartimaeus has had, and will have, many more stories, but for Nathaniel, this was his all the adventures he would have.
So, I was bummed out that the guy who I thought was the protagonist of the series, died. I liked and sympathized with Nathaniel a lot, and it was Pretty darn unfair that he 'had' to die. Especially considering he was so young! :'( And Nathaniel's death irked me also because it kinda Killed my Fan-Fiction ideas. "Nathaniel should become the prime minister and-...oh, wait, he's dead...awww...."

BUT, looking back, at the very end, Nathaniel Did get a kind of happy ending. Nathaniel finally had a choice in his life, and he Chose to be a Hero! After all his hard work and doubt and suffering, Nathaniel finally fulfilled his dream. He finally had Great power like he always wanted, and he used it to do what was Right! He Finally had enough power to protect his friends and those he loved. And he did just that.~ :)
