To be an actual, obsessive, insane and well... obsessive apreciattor of music, one must listen to all forms of music (Believe me, listen to traditional Karnatic Music and you will appreciat crap like *Gasp* Rasmus) whether it be Rap, Rock, Death metal or Fusion. Traditionally; Rap does not have the purity of Rock, but do not underestimate it; for Great Rappers like Eminem have taken it onto new heights, from which we can look down on everything but Led Zeplin and Iron Maiden.

I think all of us who don't like rap have all listened to it and don't like it and we have decided we think it is crap.

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Kibblediggit. Kibblediggit liked Alternative music and Rock music.

She said, "Oh no, I will never like rap ever ever ever. It's stupid and shallow."

Then, she met her friends, The Gorillaz. And Kibblediggit said, "Oh, okay, they're spiffy. But they do other stuff besides rap. Hip hop, and alternative too." But Kibblediggit could no longer say she hated rap, but she just didn't like "The other type of rap".

Then Kibblediggit found an artist named MC Chris. He was clever, with good lyrics and stuff.

But he rapped. And it wasn't even side rapping like the Gorillaz, it was rap. So Kibblediggit said "Oh, okay, but he's not one of the popular artists. You know what type of rap I don't like."

And then Kibblediggit met Eminem, who she had been avoiding for all these years. And she said "Screw it" and decided not to judge music genres any more.

Kibblediggit still thinks that hip hop and rap have turned into more of a novelty than an actual genre (Example: My Humps) but she can appreciate the better of it all the same.

The moral of this story is to listen to everything and judge by taste, not by artist and genre, of whether or not it is good.

^Found that entertaining and i think more should be opened minded like that. I tried to like Metal but i just couldn't stand the concent screaming and crappy lyrics. Rock was good, i still listen to some, very few mind you, but i use to listen to it as much as rap. Now i really only listen to rap though i respect all music for it takes talent, work, and determinsion.

As for Metal, Listen to Cradle of Filth; you'll probably like Nyphatamine and Hollowed be thy name if nothing else

And Rap is a genere; it has too much stuff to be a novelty.

I'd recomend Iron Maiden for Rock fans, Fear of the Dark ect

And Eminem is extremely good, listen to Cleaning out my Closet, Mockingbird or Curtain Call If you still think he's mindless try Kayne West.
