For the forum descriptions to give links to any sub-forums within.

I think they look pretty cool.

Well, it does look better then it did previously.

It's unnecessary...it's easier to browse them without going through the scroll bar.

Of course, but they still look good :)

At least, I think they do....

Well, assuming we're not overloaded with javascripts anyway, it's alright. I won't be using it, but I didn't use the old links either.
However, I do think the old ones looked a little less intrusive... these are a bit big.
Or maybe I'm just being picky.

I agree with Sent, it's intrusive. But, hey Gladdy's the ROOT admin, eh?

Add a couple of more scripts and my connection will struggle.

Are you using dial-up Post?

D link, 56K. But my connection will suffer when the unwahed hordes are online.

It's still intrusive.

There are 24 javascripts running on this page alone, according to my calculations.
In fact, there are actually only 22 on the mainpage.

*is currently enjoying the forums in ad-free glory*

EDIT: On that note, I always wondered why I got slowdown opening every single thread with new posts in simultaneously in tabs. Turns out the slowdown doesn't happen with no javascripts running. Hmm.

Ad free? I don't think so.

The FireFox NoScript extension blocks all javascripts except from allowed sources. Speeds up the forums loads, for a start.
Now, how do you think the ads on the forum are randomised?

Spam?

This thing is nifty, but I always accidentally leave it highlighted and attempt to scroll. Then it takes me to forums I don't want to go to :(

It's cool though. Kind of big, but nice. I prefer the [a href tag] over it, though.

Oh, and on the "Fan Fiction" forum, the "Fan Fiction Contests" link is spelled wrond. It's Fan Fiction, not... fcition.

It isn't propaganda. FireFox with NoScript means you don't get most ads, especially not the Google ones.

Has its cons too. Take for example, Gladstone had to PM me to remove an oversized image Uttuku posted. He couldn't do it himself because it streached his firefox and he couldn't edit it.

No, seriously, it happened.

IE is better.
