Well, as the title so subtly suggests- what are good classics you've read and would recommend?

I've enjoyed works like Demian and The Portrait Dorian Gray (anything Oscar Wilde that I've read, actually- just wish there were more novels), but not so much books like Of Mice and Men. (Not saying there's anything bad about it- just personal taste).

And has anyone read a transcription of Goethe's Faust? A certain hypothetical student may have the completely voluntary urge to write a 5,000 word essay on literature and may, just may, be appreciative of any slight idea as to how to begin.

The Scarlet Pimpernel and To Kill a Mockingbird were my all-time favorite classics, so I would recommend those.

I just realized that the only Sherlock Holmes-ish book I've read fully is Eye of the Crow by Shane Peacock, and it's not even a Sherlock Holmes Sherlock Holmes book. What am I even doing with my life?

Is that like a pre- young Sherlock Holmes thing? Also, the originals are awesome, I totally recommend them.
