Q: If all is connected as one, does "it" have a specific gender?

When Bartimeaus talks about names being the "ultimate restriction", while they have no names in the "other place".
Q:If everything is one in the "other place", and there is no difference between spirits, how do individuals get summoned without others going too(when they have no names to specify who is wanted)?

. Anyways I agree with what everyone else said. When a spirit is "born" from the essence forms into what that piece of essence sees fit (except for its rank, which is probably based on the strength of the summoning).
