Calling all Bartimaeus trivia masters

For a personal project, I need a complete list of all of the spells demons can use, among other things. I know there is a list on Stroud's site, but it is incomplete. It didn't even have the Detonation! Here's the list so far:

Black Tumbler
Bulb of Silence
Charm/Glamour
Convulsions
Fluxions (can demons use this one?)
Pulse (same with this one)
Detonation (of course)
Shield (of course)
Inferno

Next, I need to know the greatest feat of strength we ever see a djinn perform.

I figured that posting here would be easier than reading through all 3 books again, so thanks in advance to all of you who have either read them more recently or have a better memory than me.

Wasn't there an inferno?

EDIT: And what about that Rift that Ramuthra creates between the two worlds...

Yeah, we had an Ominpedia on the forum back in the old days, where members could write stuff about the books.

But we took it down because it was pretty inactive, and some forums were empty so......

Oh kool. That sounds good.

I think the pedia got it from Stroud's site, which had the incomplete list, because that list had a bunch of the non-demon magic stuff, like Prague Cubes.

Oh yes, the Inferno. Wasn't that a stronger fiery version of the Detonation? In any case, I'm adding it to the list

I'm pretty sure Bartimaeus used it on Kitty and co when they attacked him in the alley. They didn't die because of their resistance.

You should put the pedia back up Gladdy, just for reference.

I know the night is not as it would seem,
I must believe in something,
So I'll make myself believe it,
That this night will never go.

I agree, it sounds rather interesting.

Does anyone else remember any demon spells, or remember when any of them did things requiring strength? Do you think Bartimaeus could lift a car, or would Jabor be required for that? And I mean Bartimaeus and Jabor at full strength, not Bartimaeus in his weakened state in Ptolemy's Gate.
User Avatar

I think Bart could do it, but Jabor would be more quick and efficient. Different Djinni's for different sort of jobs i guess...
maxxrox Mite
How much does a demon's form change their strength, power, and stamina? I'm guessing that Bartimaeus as a wisp of smoke would be easier to kill than Bartimaeus as a rhino, but could Bartimaeus as a gorilla lift more weight than Bartimaeus as Ptolemy? I remember there is a scene in The Amulet where Bartimaeus as a mouse knocks a guy out. Does this mean that his form does influence his power, but he is always more powerful than the normal version of whatever he turned into?

Form doesn't affect how strong they are.

A smaller form simply takes up less space, and therefore, is easier to squeeze into tight spaces.

Indeed. I don't think their form matters because they only that form on a certain number of planes. On the fourth plane for example other Djinni's and spirits can see other spirits real forms.

Hodge had that thing going on with the darts :) and barty sent out some kinda smoke thing to blind the frog-a-ma-jig on the ceiling when he was stealing the amulet
