Has anyone else read Buried Fire?

I got it from the library and though it started out slow, I ended up loving it. Though, the end came kind of fast....

"You belong in Gryffindor,
where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
set Gryffindors apart."

Nope. I'll add it to my very long list.

Yay!

I find it similar to another book I read, but I'm not sure which one.

Their daring, nerve and chivalry
set Gryffindors apart."

Read it. A bit cliche, but it was a nice read. Pretty okay prose, but obviously, it's not Stroud's best. He was just starting out.

Check out the Answered Questions forum, I think it's on page two. I asked him some questions concerning Buried Fire.

The three ships. Kinda like the Mayflower and all those.

I wished it had one more chapter at the end....but I kind of liked the last page.

SPOILER:

I found the ending to be a sort of parralel to Bartimaeus' ending, though Tom did survive it and didn't come to a drastic change in character. And, of course, in this case, Bartimaeus was good to write just enough about it to be poignant, but not underdescriptive or overdramatic. Tom just did what he did and walked off.

I did as well.

Though it was actually Sarah who stuck it to him.

Did she? :) Well I suppose it wasn't a really memorable moment, now was it?

Guess not, then.

I thought that was an intresting twist.

Force yourself into it, it's actually really good.
