While obviously this is an enigma for anyone, my answer has got to be blind.

Explanation later.

Blind.
I have a good memory, and I'd rather be able to hear my girlfriend laugh and remember how beautiful she looks while she is, then see the smile I remember but not hear it.

And yet you would not be able to remember her voice?
(Yeah, yeah. You meant visual memory. Blah.)

Well either one would suck, but I think I'll choose deafness over blindness. I love art too much. Oh, and I would feel better in control of myself. Sure I guess I could get used to blindness, but I don't think I want to have to feel my way around things. What if I accidentally rub the wrong thing and end up poising myself or facing sexual harassment charges?

Oh, and then I would have to start learning how to do sign language really quickly. Which I've been meaning to self study forever anyways.

Who thought this comparison was unnecessary? =P

Deaf, by a longshot. I am very vision oriented, and have a severe fear of the dark. Losing my sight would make me consider suicide.
Deaf. Because I could learn to lip-read & too much noise is bad.

This, apart from the severe fear of the dark bit.

Edit: I dunno though, artificial eyes sound easier to make than artificial ears (*awaits Sent's wall of text* :P ). Future technological advancements ftw.

Well, in terms of epic blind people, there's Daredevil, Rahm Kota, and Blind Guardian.

In terms of epic deaf people, I can't think of any. Blind it is.

Eh.
So far, it's easier, because we've figured out how to connect the cameras to the optic nerve.
I don't have the time to go into it further, but yeah, I keep with my answer.

The feasibility of artificial eyes depend on what exactly's wrong with your existing ones. For certain problems we already have the capability to repair vision to some extent, by linking an external camera to a device that directly stimulates the retina electrically. There are also engineered viruses in the later stages of clinical trials that can repair some other eye problems, and a variety of other technological solutions in earlier stages of development. A complete replacement eye is a long way off yet, though. Contrary to Dansariki's optimistic opinion, we cannot directly interface with the optic nerve.
Repairing hearing is a lot further off than vision, however. Beyond hearing aids, there's not really very much we can do.

Also, usually when people are considered "clinically blind" they have some sort of limited vision that can be helped along w/glasses.

For the sake of arguement, let's just assume you're completely blind or deaf with no hope of recovery.

Honestly, going blind is something that I'm really afraid of. Not ever seeing anything, ever would be horrible. For deafness at least, there's sign language, captions etc., blind you've basicaly got nothing (and no, seeing eye dogs don't count). Being blind creates so many problems. Braille helps, but objects with braille lettering on them aren't very common. You'd have to rely on others for a lot of things. I'm having a hard time explaining exactly how much I would hate it, but I think you get the idea.

Plus, it might be nice to have some peace and quiet for a while. :P

Deaf, because it seems more lonely when you're blind. And Deaf culture is really cool.

I think I would (personally) find it easier to be deaf rather than blind. You could learn sign language and function pretty much normally. You would still be able to read and watch movies (with subtitles), play sport and stuff.
When I set out from the boy's attic window, my head was so full of competing plans and complex strategems that I didn't look where I was going and flew straight into a chimney.

Something symbolic in that. It's what fake freedom does for you.
Dear Goddess, I'd rather be deaf. If I were blind...I wouldn't be able to exist. End of story.
