Hey guys, long time no speak! I promise I never forgot you, although if you don't remember who I am I seriously don't blame you.

So an idea popped into my head today; would it be possible to make a roleplaying game system based on the Bartimaeus Universe? (For those unfamiliar with RPGs it's Dungeons & Dragons etc and all the cool kids do it.) A friend of mine recently put together one based on Avatar: The Last Airbender and it works pretty well, so I figure if he can do it, I'm probably capable... Probably.

Has anyone done this before? You guys are more likely to have heard than me if such a game already exists.

If it doesn't exist yet and I decide to go ahead with building a system, would any of you guys be interested in helping? I'd really appreciate it. :D

Back in the day, there were some attempts to run some Barti roleplaying here, but it never got off the ground. There was some interest, but not all that much.
With this said, I'd be interested..

Awesome! I need to find a good system to use as a template and that'll cover most of the mechanics. After that the rest of it will be flavour text about various kinds of spirits, which obviously I can get from the books. The main work will be devising playable power levels and calculating at what power level you can cast what magic. Should be fun. :)

Sounds pretty epic, especially how diverse spirits can be.

I would definitely participate, unfortunately I don't have a lot of experience with RPGs so I don't know how much help I'd be with setting it up. You'd probably need to talk to rubberchickenben, he's the one who tried the RPG club a few years back (not BT themed, we did have the night police game though).

Yes, except for the fact that the last game kind of fizzed out and I still don't know who the wolf/wolves were. Yes, that still bugs me. Yes, that's silly.

As I recall a few people took it in turns to run the Night Police games. I actually ended up stealing the idea and now my forum runs murder mystery games on random themes every couple of months, so thanks guys.

Here we go. DC (or CI, whatever) ran it. Chose to give the results in rhyme, it was pretty cool. Funnily enough, the 3 people remaining when it faded out were N&B, RCB, and Lilith. (oh and ghost!Fuzzy commentary)

Yes, if we can manage enough members, we're a little sparse right now. Maybe we should start inviting people in their welcome threads? They seem to post there, then a few times in book discussion, and then leave.

Well, you can make the player to choose for being a spirit or a (oh, what do we call those? Magician or wizard, in Indonesian the two are the same). Then it would be great, and if you gonna play the night police game again, I want to participate if I can, cause it looks fun.
