well, i just finished PG and i wanted to make a new catch phrase (the place where he boasts about his task) for bartimaeus. How does this sound:

"I AM BARTIMAEUS!! I am Sakhr al-Jinni, N'gorso the Mighty, and the Serpent of Silver Plumes!! I am the vanquisher of Nouda the Terrible; the destroyer of Faquarl, Jabor, and a thousand other djinn and afrits!! I have weilded the Staff of Gladstone, stole the Amulet of Samarkand! I have spoken with Solomon and run with the buffalo fathers of the plain! I have rebuilt the walls of Prague, Uruk, and Karnak. I have smote golems and have preserved empires. I am BARTIMAEUS!!"

For little kiddies like Nathaniel in AoS, yes. Otherwise boasting is almost a hobby for spirits.

Catch phrase??? That would degrade the character of Bartimaeus significantly. I agree with Nero.

Why aren't Ramuthera or Nouda mentioned in his boasting?

Barti never seemed that dignified to me. He just simply knows how to edit and narrate. :P

Or to twist the truth to its limits. I am seriously in no mood to type a speech for Barty now. It's taking all my will-power to keep myself awake. I'll do it the next time.

Nothing is beyond exaggeration. He told Nouda "Ramuthera fled before me" somewhere I think.

Well, less catchphrases than posturing.

"I am Bartimaeus! I destroyed half the djinni, afrits, marids, higher spirits and golems in the world! I have rebuilt half the walls of the world! I have held half the amulet and talismans in the world! I have seen half the world's empires rise and fall! I have been with half the famous people in the world! I have half a million different names! Fear me!"

And that is the condensed version, which is still extremely tedious.

Somewhere in it he should say something like "I have been where no djinni has gone and lived to tell the tale."

Unless any other human/spirit hybrids survived?
