The scene where she killed Root was so predictable for me. I knew there was no spot because Opal would never let them get away that easily.

I was using IE and it messed up on me. :getfirefox:

Evil Arty was the best
The 'science' in that book was sooo warped...Colfer should seriously do research before using plot devices like pituitary glands and hormones. >.>
Nothing to see here, move along.

It doesn't really take much in-depth knowledge to know that you can't just change do a species change through hormonal injections, it's hard to change gender as it is.

Fairies are supposed to be vaguely related to humans, so human hormones would work, in the same way that hormones from most mammals work on humans.

The scene where she murders Root was pretty chilling. Spiro's interesting because well, corporate villains are easy to hate. My least favourite characters are Mulch and the dumb guard from the German bank. o.o
Are you sure? I mean, he did managed to steal that Cube from him in the early part of the book.
Spiro probably knew/suspected that he couldn't triumph over Arty in a battle of wits, so he fell back on old gangster methods. 'Genius' is probably the last word I would use to describe a man like him. He won because he had more cronies.

Who said he was a genius? I never said that. Opal Koboi's the genius, but she's hampered by the fact that she's completely insane. I just said that he outmanuevered Artemis (or at least the guy who's responsible for not getting him surrounded by assassins).

Besides, it's not stupid if it works.
The exact word you used was 'outsmarted', but i shan't quibble on that. True, no one ever said that Spiro's a genius, but I'd like to raise the point that it'll probably take one to outsmart Fowl. You seem to have mentioned Butler somewhere in your post...Well, I agree that he's partly responsible for how things turned out. Not resenting him for that though, I was so relieved that he didn't die. Love that book so much...

I know. He ambushed Fowl, took his C-Cube, and killed Butler. That's more than the fairy villains were able to do already.

Not really. He was getting really over-confident, which was why no one bothered to do any security checks on the restaurant to find out if all of the patrons and employees were assassins or not.

Me too. It's a good thing that he has a smart principal, or he would have been toast.
He didn't kill Butler. He almost killed Butler. He would have died without fairy intervention.
