Meh, the first real novel I read was Potter, back in 1999. 'twas good or was I just I just inexperienced? I'm coining Book virgin as a term here. Like, before Paolini Violation. Shindign.

Anyways, liked the next two books too, But then came the Goblet of friggin fire. Thus, began the great angsty monologues ad cheap quasi mature themes Potter became famous for. Heart broken I was. But this book makes up for the horrors of the past somewhat, it's different, yes. Straight from the somewhat intellectual qoutes on the title page to the somewhat touching Dudley's goodbye.

This book succeeds somewhat because it keeps the angsty monologues to a minimum, the tone is also better. Rowling takes the easy way out with the mighty powerful magical artifacts (How many friggin are there?) and Potter lives. Should have seen it coming, what do they call it? Viral Marketing, yes?

The whole entire world has been dragged into Hogwarts whether we liked it or not and the closure was not final enough. It still doesn't deserve it, Potter ain't a classic, will never be. The characters were not characters, simply animals to put in a eggshell environment and tormented. Meh.

No I agree. The first book was the best. It went downhill after that.

Did anyone actually laugh at the Book's humor?

An ocasional chuckle...My favorite was the "NOT MY DAUGHTER, BITCH!", that was kinda funny.

Post, was it you that said you were going to break out your good wine when Potter died and start celebrating?

Sounds like him.

And I disagree, Book 7 is truly my favorite. Though I do agree that 5 is a bit weak...

"You belong in Gryffindor,
where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
set Gryffindors apart."

yeah, 5 wasn't that good.

But harry DID die. He just came back afterwards. this way, both sides are satisfied, those who wanted him dead, and those who wanted him to live.

Not me.

If JK doesn't have the guts to kill Harry, then just completely let him live. That was the biggest cop out ever IMO.

I liked it.

Because I'd predicted it somewhere a long time ago...

Satisfied? No one was satisfied.

For the situation on the previous page there seems to be a quote that fits:
"A good compromise leaves eveybody angry."
I don't know who said it but what the hey, just know that I didn't.
On topic, I really liked most of the book, but the ending was lame."Albus Severus, the two bravest men I have known." I seem to remember Sirius held that title... Another thing, Harry seems to have no creativity when it comes to names. He named all his kids after people he knew, heck, he gave two of them his parent's names!
Sorry for the rant, I had to say it.
