Meh, the first real novel I read was Potter, back in 1999. 'twas good or was I just I just inexperienced? I'm coining Book virgin as a term here. Like, before Paolini Violation. Shindign.
Anyways, liked the next two books too, But then came the Goblet of friggin fire. Thus, began the great angsty monologues ad cheap quasi mature themes Potter became famous for. Heart broken I was. But this book makes up for the horrors of the past somewhat, it's different, yes. Straight from the somewhat intellectual qoutes on the title page to the somewhat touching Dudley's goodbye.
This book succeeds somewhat because it keeps the angsty monologues to a minimum, the tone is also better. Rowling takes the easy way out with the mighty powerful magical artifacts (How many friggin are there?) and Potter lives. Should have seen it coming, what do they call it? Viral Marketing, yes?
The whole entire world has been dragged into Hogwarts whether we liked it or not and the closure was not final enough. It still doesn't deserve it, Potter ain't a classic, will never be. The characters were not characters, simply animals to put in a eggshell environment and tormented. Meh.
