Oops, I am a huge lummox and I forgot to leave you a comment.
That was awesome. The animation looks great, and the whole thing is very true to the spirit of Bartimaeus. Excellent, excellent job!
That was completely awesome. The atmosphere was very well done. Congrats on the recognition.

Thanks to you both!! :D I'm glad people are liking it.

Since Bartimaeus went live, my subscriber count has jumped from 4 to 32, the trailer has had over 800 views and the film has just crossed 400 views. Thank you so much, all of you! Keep spreading the word!! :)
That's so cool! Guess there's more Bartimaeus fans out there now than I 'd thought. I'd subscribe, but I could never bother myself to get a youtube account.

If it's not too much to ask, what did you think of your animation program. Only I'm being pressured to figure out what I want to do after high school, and that's one of the options I'm considering.

(We cleared it up, but you managed to post that three times without them getting merged together. Nice.)

I didn't technically do an animation program. My school decided to pioneer a degree that basically let you come in and work on projects that were relevant to whatever you wanted to do. We had a class of visual artists, painters, photographers, graphic designers, and two animators. We'd all get the same assignments, and then we'd try and twist them to fit our individual passions.

Research schools that offer animation programs in your area. Check out student work from those schools, if you can. And if you have an eye for detail, are able to watch an animated film and spot mistakes, don't mind working insanely long hours and have the dedication required to see something through to its completion, then you're off to a good start. :)

(Being able to draw/sketch/doodle cartoons might help too)

Whut? *facepalm*

Thanks for the advice. Your program sounds interesting, but wouldn't it be difficult to stay on track with the work? Or maybe that's just me putting my procrastinator spin on everything. :P

I'm in an all-day (it's in a high school for high school credits, but you need to have graduated first) art program, and we've been talking about road tripping up to Toronto to check out some schools. That is if I even do art (still doing this art vs. science as career inner torment thing, blah).

Want my advice? Science. :P

But if you are really confused, go through college textbooks of both and see what you like more. Or there might be school counselors?

Oh it is beyond difficult to stay on task, especially in animation. The exciting part (for me at least) is researching, planning, conceptualising, designing and getting ready to make a movie, and then it dragged a little when it became animating the same two characters day in and day out for three months. After that it picked up in excitement again during editing, compositing, colouring, sound design and titles and special effects, then marketing and posters and all that fun stuff.

In your spare time, do you have fun and do art or do you do sciencey stuff? Career-wise, go for what you enjoy the most.
