The Bartimaues series are very fun to read, but a question has been on my mind. Please ignore my username and do not let it influence you, but tell me please: Are there any political meanings in your books?

There are certainly political references, hints and echoes of actual events, but I'm not seeking to make an allegory or anything like that. The most prevailing thing that the books reflect is a certain rift between people and politicians that I think is quite common in many parts of the world. Otherwise it's up to each reader what connections they make between the books and real life!
