[Accepted]Other books and maybe another trilogy?

Answered Questions
Firstly, thank you for this great contribution in the literary world. I have enjoyed your books (trilogy specifically) since I first picked them out. Like any good series, after I read the first, I had to go out and get the other two. So congradulations on your accomplishments and I hope for many more.

I have been a big series reader (Mainly when it comes to Fantasy and Sci-Fi/Fantasy Fiction) ever since Harry Potter 1,2, & 3 came out. Besides the fact that I have finished the series and reread all of them over 4 more times (lol, probably will again and again when the time is ripe), I have continued onto many other wonderful books. Having become increasing curious as to what others thought, I was wondering if you have ever indulged yourself in books such as these:

1. Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazney : 10 Book series and I rate it right up there with Tolkien

2. Lord of the Rings by Tolkien: Would deeply surprise me to hear you have not read this one

3. Harry Potter by Rowling: I did see you had read the first four but it seems to me that it gets even better and deeper in the last ones, so wondering if you ever finished.

4. Dragonlance by Weis and Hickman: Mainly the first two trilogys as there are hundreds out there.

5. Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen Donaldson: He is finishing the third and last trilogy (maybe its four in the last series but not all to sure)

6. Chronicles of Narnia by Lewis: Still working on this myself but I find it difficult what to read next since I love so many and keep trying to go back and keep finding other great works of art.

7. Enders Game by Orson Scott Card: I have only read the first two but I find this to be a very intriguing read.

8. His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman: Read this arround the same time as Bartimaeus but frankly I liked your trilogy more by far.

9. Dune by Frank Herbert: A very crazy book but another great read. (There are to many good books out there to keep up with and I know im forgetting some but since I probably have already annoyed you I should stop here lol)

(Im sorry if this question as been asked since it seems only to likely but I spent alot of time looking and got tired. Didnt think it would make much a difference since I had other thoughts on my mind as well)

And at last the most important question I have to ask. I, as I am sure many others, want to read more about Nathaniel, Bartimaeus, and Kitty. Since you have already made a trilogy it seems that it would be hard to just make one more book (Though I would have nothing against this cause I would be in such high spirits). So have you any thoughts, ideas, plans, insights, whatever it may be, to creating another trilogy and following what many authors have done before you? As I have mentioned, I would be just as enthusiastic about only one more coming out. There is just so much more room to be able to continue the series or a new trilogy and the characters to advanced to just drop it where it is. Will be covered here - admin

Sorry about writing so much and if I was dragging along WAY to much, I seem to get that way at times. Thank you for all that you have done and I wish you the best.
A big fan of yours, Josh

Greetings, Josh, and thanks for your message. Sorry to take so long to answer! Very interesting list of series... Here's the gory truth:
1. No, but would like to try it. Really enjoyed Zelazny's Lord of Light years ago.
2. Yep, read it first when I was 10 and still enjoy dipping in. Always enjoyed the early bits where we're focused on the fellowship, rather than the massive epic warfare later. Same is true of the movies.
3. Still haven't read 5-7, but fully intend to do so, probably when my kids are the right age. Looking forward to it.
4. Nope. I tried D&D when I was about 12 but didn't understand it, and never read the books.
5. Tried the first one as a kid but didn't get into it.
6. Yep, loved this, and still rate it for its imaginative verve. I don't buy the argument that it's dubious because of its Christian message. The stories are what counts, and many bits are superb.
7. No, but sounds intriguing...
8. Yes, and thought it very impressive, particularly the first two books.
9. For some reason I've never tried it. I think it was just a bit too big and too sci-fi for me. I was more into my fantasy.

Other fantasy series I liked: Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd and Gray Mouser books, Jack Vance's Dying Earth and Lyonesse series, David Eddings first series, the novels of Charles Williams, Robert E Howard's Conan books...

You'll see elsewhere that I've got a new Bart book coming out shortly... A prequel to the original trilogy. As to any more... who knows? Bart's had a lo-o-o-ng career...

All the best,

Jonathan
