Answered Questions
Dear Mr. S,
Even while I'm writing this,goose-bumps are erupting on my body. Wonder what will happen if you actually do reply to my post.
I read the Trilogy the first time long ago,I was a kid, dint understand much.I've re-read it almost 7 times now, every time discovering new stuff that I had somehow overlooked before.
I have a few questions,answer them if you please,Great Entity :)

1]Your story is so wonderfully detailed. How do you come up with it all? I read your thing on your webpage. Bart's idea popped up to you while you were walking gloomily on a rainy day. How did you get all those names,places..knowledge about everything?

2]The brimstone.What's with it?
Brimstone = Sulphur, which is particularly nasty and if mixed correctly with other elements can produce interesting stink bombs as I remember from school Chemistry -admin

3]While materialized in a specific state, suppose the raven,do the djinn converse in a language,or do they just. .caw?

4]Do djinn actually die? I mean,I know they do, they become old and all. Do they return to the Other Place after they die and get lost as memories?Or do they just disappear? What happens to them after they die?

5]In GE,how does Honorius actually escape from slavery? He's inside a bunch of bones. He's just free because his master Gladstone is dead.If Nathaniel would have died while Bart was his slave,Bart would be free too, innit? He wouldn't have to be imprisoned in a body to acquire freedom.

6]Was Kitty jealous of Ptolemy? Was she jealous that Bart actually liked a human, and that happened to be a small Egyptian kid?Well,I am too.Jealous of Ptolemy,I mean.

I had lots of other questions, but they are all asked by other people on this site.I got my answers :)

I just want to tell you how brilliant you are. You're my most favourite author and Bartimaeus is one of the reasons I live.Thats dedication! -admin
Could you possibly write more on Bart? Anything. Just anything. I was wishing so bad for The Bartimaeus Trilogy Part 2..
I love Heroes Of The Valley,by the way. It's truly amazing.

I'd be one of those people who are excessively happy that you are present on this planet.
Thank you so much for writing books! :thnks:

Keep writing!

Hello Magykgurl,

Thanks very much for your kind and generous message! It's great that you love the trilogy so much (and Heroes of the Valley!). You'll be pleased to know that I AM writing more about Bart right at the moment, so hopefully there'll be lots more for you to enjoy next year (when the book will come out). I'll put more info about the book up on my website from time to time, and probably here at the Forum too, so there'll be some concrete info about it before too long.

Anyway... your questions!

2. Brimstone: as Admin says, Brimstone is essentially sulphur, and is rather pungent. It's a traditional side-effect of scary demonic activity in legend, which is why Bart uses it when he first turns up at Nat's. He wants to scare him rigid or, failing that, just make him queasy.

3. Talking in different guises: the talking is separate from the forms the spirits adopt, so Bart and Faquarl won't be cawing when they're arguing during their escape from the Tower of London, for example. It probably won't be English, either. Sometimes Bart lets drop what languages they use, frequently ancient ones - probably because they used them for many centuries during their 'formative' years.

4. Djinn and death: If a djinni isn't killed by misadventure - i.e. by a nasty magician, or another djinni, or something horrid happening while he or she is on this earth - then NO, they don't die. They grow weak and feeble if they're on this earth for too long, and that makes them more vulnerable to death by misadventure, but if nothing bad happens to them then they can survive indefinitely (though also VERY grumpily) until they can go back to the OP and recover.
But like us, if they are killed, that's it - and I don't know what happens to them afterwards! That's outside the scope of the Trilogy!

5. The paradox of Honorius is that he ISN'T free despite his master being dead. Ordinarily a djinni will leave earth the moment his/her master dies, but Gladstone got round this (being a formidable magician) by essentially treating his own bones in the same way as (for example) an Amulet or other magical object: if a spirit is encased into an object by a powerful magician, then they're trapped there until such time as the object is destroyed (as Nat and Bart do to the Staff in PG). Honorius is therefore trapped in G's bones guarding them indefinitely. But then he figures out that he can still 'guard' them while dancing around London, and goes on to cause carnage!

6. Nice question. No, I don't think Kitty was jealous of Ptolemy, really, although in the middle of PG she did get very frustrated that Bart wasn't prepared to treat her in the same way as this long-dead kid. But Kitty is pretty clear-sighted, and she realised that the only way to match Ptolemy was to do the same as him - hence her visit at the end. I know what you mean about being jealous of Pt yourself because of his relationship with Bart. Having said that, I prefer Kitty to Ptolemy, myself!

Thanks again for your message!

Jonathan

No WAY did You just reply to my message.
Here I am, a year later and . .
OHMYGOD.
These sort of things don't usually happen to me, so I didn't even bother checking back.
My friend comes and tells me YOU reply to my post and I have like this spasm and rush over here, nearly dying.
...
THANK YOU SO MUCH for your reply. Cleared the small doubts I had :)

And yes, the new Bart Book. No one has any idea how excited THAT'S got me. Ever since I finished reading PG, I've been wishing for something more, and that's finally happening :D [as I said, these sort of things don't usually happen to me]

You're still the most amazing author and Bart the most awesome-est character.
Super super excited about the new book!

BEST wishes,
Aashmika.
