Dear Mr.Stroud ,

My name is Marco and i have a question for you about the 3rd book i hope you can answer it

My Question is :

If Mr.Makepeace Could have summond a Entities / Marid Why couldnt Nat summond a Marid or higher because i dont think a Playwriter is a higher Magican then one of the Ministers ?

Thanks for your time

Azarel.

Hi Marco,

Great question - sorry to be so long replying.

Makepeace is a pretty powerful magician, who hides his power behind his 'everyday' role as a playwright. But Nat is powerful too - and probably fully capable of summoning a marid (even when young, at the end of Amulet, he's able to dismiss Ramuthra single-handed). He doesn't choose to, however - he prefers orchestrating a group of lesser djinn. And of course he's emotionally bound to the relatively lowly Bartimaeus, whether he knows it or not...

All best wishes,

Jonathan

Yeah i see it now, i think he trusted in Bartimaus more , while he was a lower class.

Thx for your time.

I think Barty mentioned that it usually involved at least two magicians to summon a marid. Obviously both Makepeace and Natty are ahead of the curve. The next powerful magician in the series is probably Whitwell, right? Seeing how she destroyed a marid using a Void or something?
