Dear Mr. Stroud

This is just a quick question, not to take up too much of your time.

1) You said that marids and afrits need multiple magicians, afrits possibly one strong magician. And when the master dies, the spirit is freed. But lets say you used two magicians to summon an afrit. Once one dies, is the afrit freed, or does the remaining bonds from the other magician keep it on earth?

Thanks, Nero

Hi Nero,

Hmmmm.... You know, that is a very interesting one. I think that if a spirit is jointly summoned by more than one magician, then there's certainly the possibility that it is forced to remain even if one of the parties is killed - but a lot depends on exactly how the summons is made, how it is articulated, how the magicians concerned spread the effort required to bring the spirit over... I think it would have to be a special set up, with more than two linked pentacles, and an unusual kind of binding charm. I don't think you could just have two blokes standing inside one pentacle and saying the words together... that would just be wrong. As well as a bit cramped.

Best wishes,

J
