about changing forms

General Discussion
this is about the entities' changing forms..
while they are in a particular form,do they converse in languages or in animal talk..?

and bart said that changing forms alter their discomfort in staying on earth.but later on,he goes like "i had no energy to change form.." shouldnt he be like happy to change form or something.?

No, he was pooped, and couldn't muster the energy to do it.

And regardless their form, they can talk in any way they wish.
A lioness can speak perfect english if it's a spirit.

They learn different languages as they get around the world, only quicker than humans. Except they can't speak animal talk. :D

Because there is none. It's all growling, twitching, singing, etc.

Sorry, singing?

lmfao, My neighbor's got a pair of parakeets, and the whole time I was there talking to her, they kept on bitching at eachother, 'till I was getting ready leave, and the neighbor's Parrot landed on top on the Parakeet's cage.
They started bitching at it.
I was laughing all the way home...

Shouldn't a parakeet take care of you 'till the real Keet arrives?

Exactly why I'm skeptical, at best.
Unless it's Artemis Fowl style, i don't see it happening.

"and bart said that changing forms alter their discomfort in staying on earth.but later on,he goes like "i had no energy to change form.." shouldn't he be like happy to change form or something."

It takes energy for him to change, and it doesn't necessarily "alter their discomfort". I'm pretty sure he said it eases boredom, rather than eliminate discomfort. If he gains energy from changing forms, then his condition in Ptolemy's Gate would be far better.

As for languages, djinn, or at least, Bartimaeus, are known to forget the language they are speaking in, but they are all able to commune with each other (as in the hotel scene in Ptolemy's Gate, might be wrong). So when spirit talks to spirit, they can apparently understand eachother, but in all the books, I don't think you ever see a spirit talk to an actual animal.

Actually, he said changing forms eases their disconfort, in the beginning of AoS, he calls it an "itch".

Yes, they've never been seen to speak to animals, but the topic is as a lion, could the speak lion?

Didn't Bartimaeus interact with that pigeon that was hitting on him?

Come to think of it, awesome scene.
I thought he poked it in the eye... <_<

He did, at the end. After trying to avoid the thing.
lol yea i remember that scene..is was so funny..

that time when faqural saved bart from the mournful orb, they turn into crows/raven is when the question of talk came into my head..they were talking when they were crows innit..

Every demon has an unique look sans the disguises. How do u think Bart would look like? Also, they can invent disguises, right? Make themselves look like a human they have never seen before?

Actually, they were speaking a normal language, not "Raven."
Also, it was Bart's first time as a Raven, when he came out his beak was bright blue.

And yes, they can, though I would think in a pinch they'd go for someone they once knew simply because it's easier and/or faster...

In a way, they could learn something of Language, however.
Think of certain sounds animals make indicating fear, anger, or grouping calls (call-to-arms thing).
Should a spirit memorize that, they could at least communicate, however not as they would with us.

I'm pretty sure all animals have some kind of basic language of sounds and body language, but it wouldn't be (and doesn't really need to be) as advanced as the languages we speak.
