Meh. I will never forgive her for HBP and DH.

I personally loved DH.

Her plot drags on so tediously at times, to an extent that would rival the prose of Northrop Frye even.

And she's predictable.

Well in her defense, the books were destined to be predictable. Her fans have over analyzed the hell out of it and stuffed every imaginable outcome in their fanfics.

Meh...even people who hadn't read fanfiction could see it coming a mile away.

It was cliche, totally embedded in pop culture. But I suppose since her audience's ages are so varied, there's no way she could keep everyone entertained.

I liked it...no loved it.

And it's not like she wrote an Eragon.

...Even the epilogue?

I ignore the epilogue.

You know how I feel about it.

It's a mistep, Bowles. ;) The book was doomed to obscurity anyway.

Meh, Harry Potter is Good. But it's nowhere near great. But that's where it stands in popular culture; it was at the right place at the right time.
....And the mid series Wangst was so very frustrating.

*shrug* I never personally found much wrong with the mid-series angst. There's a frigging dark lord out there and people are refusing to believe you and are calling you a psychopath. What's HP supposed to do, skip around singing Disney pop songs?

If you want wangst, read something like Twilight. A bloodthirsty vampire pulls a Peter Parker and leave his girlfriend cuz he wants to keep her safe and then for half a book you hear 'woe is me' and 'I'm so numb to this meaningless world.'

@ Lucy's Sig: Jeffree Star's hotter.

I hate the Twilight series....

And yes, Disney brightens the mood.

The Books were simply structured like that: Go to school, deal with some sadistic teachers, go all angsty, Have the principle support your wild plots, face the Dark lord, get all angsty again.

Cardinal rule: Never extend angst over several chapters. At the end of day, the guy and his problems are fictional; people don't relate.

I have a friend who is this ~alpha male~ and he keeps banging on about how today's generation is full of wimps and emos. Wangst like HP and Twilight could be thriving because of that. Or the other way round.

Personally I think it's better to wangst than have lots of ~pent up aggression~
Nothing to see here, move along.

That's why I don't enjoy the books as much as I could. Whine, whine, whine, sulk, sulk, sulk, angst, angst, angst, all the bloody time.

I know the books are fictional & stuff, but ppl do relate to them. Esp. with the deaths. There was this family who derived solace from the books after losing their close relatives in the World Trade Centre attack. I know a couple more ppl who related in the same way with the books. Me too, when my Grandpa died & my friend whose lovebird died. Ppl who feel nostalgic often too like the books as they sort of remind them of their childhood days -homeworks, exams, friendships, first crushes etcetc. I know it sounds mushy and all, but it is the truth. Many do relate with books- fictional or otherwise.

Damn, your childhood is more exciting than mine if it involves magic and fighting off dark wizards...

...actually, thinking about it, a fairly large amount of my childhood has involved magic and fighting off dark wizards. I play far too many RPGs.. >>
